Things to Do This Week

Things to do this week: K-Days, e-biking, Gymnastics Championships and more!
  • Experience K-Days! (Edmonton Expo Centre / Grounds)

    • 10 days of rides, games, shows and food come to Edmonton for the annual K-Days running July 21-30! There’s a new Monster Obstacle Course I’m excited to check out, New Foods, nightly concerts, and of course your classic midway games, rides and more! I’ll be working on a fun video with K-Days (in partnership with Explore Edmonton) so stay tuned for that!

  • Check out Gymnastics Canadian Championships (Butterdome, 114 St. 87 Ave.)

    • Watch over 400 of Canada’s top gymnasts do synchronized trampoline, individual trampoline, double mini trampoline, and tumbling at the Gymnastics Canadian Championships! Should be really cool.

  • Attend Edmonton Carnaval Latin Festival (9210 118 Ave.)

    • The annual Edmonton Carnaval Latin Festival takes place at the Alberta Avenue Community League this weekend July 22 & 23 with Latin entertainment, games, food & drink and more.

  • Catch a Green Shack Show (various locations)

  • Play some pin ball and watch the pros play (Millennium Place, Sherwood Park)

    • YEGPin Pinball and Arcade Expo, the biggest pinball and arcade show in Canada, runs July 20-23 at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park. General admission tickets gets you access to free play on all machines (except tournament machines). You can also watch the tournament / pro players do their pinball thing

  • Experience the Pet Prowl + Music & Mutts (SouthBARK 10565 82 Ave.)

  • Rent a Pedego e-bike to Explore Edmonton!

    • I took out my favourite e-bikes from Pedego Edmonton (located in Old Strathcona at 10107 81 Ave.) the other week to Explore Edmonton with friends and we had such a great time. (#PedegoEdmonton_Partner)

    • You can get 15% off a full day e-bike rental with code LINDORK!

Got an Edmonton area event, virtual event, or something coming up you think my readers would be interested in knowing about? Let me know!

Food to Try This Week

Eats this week: Cold Korean noodles, a poke donut, Jamaican patties and more!
  • Get some Thanh Thanh before they close for vacation (10718 101 St.)

  • Support Vegan eater Die Pie (11817 105 Ave.)

    • Plant-based pizzeria and Vegan restaurant Die Pie was broken into this week. I’m sure they would appreciate a bit of extra support—they’ve got lots of plant-based pizza, burger, and pasta and appetizer options to choose from.

  • Grab some authentic Jamaican patties from Lloyd’s Patty Distro (10534 111 St.)

    • New-ish Lloyd’s Patty Distro opened in Edmonton a month ago specializing in beef, chicken or vegetable “Jamaican Alberta” patties. This patty shop expanded up from Calgary and they’re popular—when we popped in after lunch on a weekday their fresh / frozen boxes were all sold out for the day! You can add cheese or a Coco bread (a coconut milk folded bread) to any patty, order a breakfast patty (includes an egg), or get the beef + chicken spicy!

  • Check out the Summer Menu at HanJan (South 3735 99 St. / Oliver 10166 114 St.)

    • I have been eyeing up HanJan Korean Restaurant’s new summer menu and am excited to try!! They’ve got a bunch of new non-alcoholic drinks like Strawberry Matcha or Yuja Lemonade, alcoholic summer drinks like Yuja Sour or a Seoul Mule, plus cold noodle dishes and refreshing desserts. My double date there isn’t until August but if you go before me, let me know which summer dishes were your favourites.

  • Go for a Flight of Ice Cream around town (10983 127 St.)

  • Try the New Food at K-Days! (Edmonton EXPO Centre / Grounds)

  • And here’s a few local food events you may be interested in…

Ate something amazing recently? Want to show some love to a struggling restaurant? Have a take-out suggestion? Let me know to include in this newsletter.
