On a hot, sunny day, there’s not too many sweet treats better than ice cream, and I don’t know know about you, but I think ice cream tastes even better when it’s local!
Why is that? Well, if you’re in Alberta, that means the ice cream you’re having is likely made from Canadian Milk, which likely includes Alberta Milk and that means you’re having some of the highest quality milk in the world. Really!
Canada boasts some of the highest standards for milk quality in the world.
That means ice cream made using Canadian Milk is some of the very best tasting, highest quality ice cream in the whole world!
This month, I’ve teamed up with Alberta Milk to share a few local ice cream spots across the province that use high quality Canadian Milk so you know where to find the very best ice cream this summer.
Why can you feel good about buying Canadian? Canadian milk quality standards are some of the highest in the world so you know when you are consuming Canadian milk you can feel good about every drop.
How do you know Canadian milk is high quality? Alberta milk farmers operate under something called proAction, an initiative that requires key standards to be met to ensure every load of milk is tested and meets a certain quality before becoming the ice cream you love. Farmers demonstrate responsible stewardship of their animals and the environment, sustainably producing high-quality, safe, and nutritious food for consumers as part of proAction.
There are over 500 family owned farms across Alberta who work hard every day to produce quality milk whether that’s just straight-up as milk or as delicious ice cream!
It was also a lot of fun learning more about Alberta Milk through this partnership—and virtually meeting their new ambassador Hanna Holstein (a real Alberta cow!) who is celebrating cheese and dairy, sharing about Alberta milk farmers, and tackling misconceptions about the industry through her creative online cow content (lol!)

So many choices, but I love pistachio! And rocky road!
Great list Linda! Camrose has another more interesting ice cream parlor that is open year round and is located in a registered historic building. While their ice cream is a B.C. product, they still deserve a mention in the ice cream category for ambiance, taste and historic significance. https://www.mainstreet1908.com/
