Last week I had the pleasure of finally trying Absolutely Edibles on Alberta Avenue (9567 118 Ave). It seems like I was always trying to go on Mondays and forget that they’re closed on Mondays so last week’s visit (on a Tuesday) was a long time coming!

Absolutely Edibles is a really cute restaurant on the Avenue. It could definitely fall under hidden gem category. I chose it as the setting to celebrate friend Breanna’s birthday week kick-off lunch!

Alberta Avenue has been trying to rebrand its image for a long time now, and great restaurants like Absolutely Edibles really contribute to the revitalization efforts there. Driving by, people might not notice it, but they should!

Our server was fantastic. I let her know that we were on somewhat of a tight schedule as I needed to be back at NAIT for a 1 p.m. meeting and she was very accommodating!

There’s lots to choose from at Absolutely Edibles. The restaurant says it is “real food fusion” so there’s some interesting dishes here and lots of variety.

Apple Crisp at Absolutely Edibles

Apple Crisp at Absolutely Edibles! $9

We capped off the great meal with an Apple Crisp ($9) for dessert.

My thoughts about Absolutely Edibles: the food is delicious, came out quickly, and the portion sizes are very, very generous! (which, I am all about). The value especially of the Char Sui Lettuce Wraps is amazing – I could have been full just ordering that for under $10. The worst feeling you can get after dining out is leaving the restaurant hungry and you just will not have that feeling at Absolutely Edibles. I repeat – the price points are fantastic value for the enormous portion sizes you’re getting. There’s a high bang for your buck rating here!

Breanna says (and I quote) – “The portion sizes were out of control in the best way possible.” She also thought the menu selection was great and interesting, our server was so lovely and the dishes tasted great. She was very impressed! I love taking people to try new restaurants and even more so when my friends love the experience so I would say this was a hit.

I absolutely recommend you try Absolutely Edibles! Top marks for food, service and atmosphere. I also love what they’re all about: fresh, healthy ingredients, items prepared from scratch and using local product. Absolutely Edibles have been open since 1999 and I wish it many, many more years of success!

I will certainly be back.

Side note: Sloppy Hoggs Roed Hus is Absolutely Edibles’ sister restaurant! Sloppy Hoggs recently moved locations, now it’s right next to Absolutely Edibles. Check out my old review of Sloppy Hoggs – old location- here!

Side note x2: I love the tables at Absolutely Edibles!

So have you been to Absolutely Edibles!? What did you think?
