I’m excited to team up with the Old Strathcona Business Association and Paths for People to take you on some physically distant, Instagrammable Wall Photo Walks and Scooter Crawls of Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue this August and September to help celebrate the release of Old Strathcona’s new District Whyte Mural Map!
Edmonton’s Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue is home to nearly 60 murals, graffiti walls, and street art. It’s the neighbourhood with the most Instagrammable Walls in walking (or scooting!) distance in the city, up side streets, down back lanes and in alleys off the main avenue.
From the Old Strathcona Business Association:
“Over the last few years, the Old Strathcona Business Association (OSBA) has commissioned and sponsored a number of artists and festivals to add art to walls throughout District Whyte. This includes Nextfest, Mural Massive and the street art festival Rust Magic. Every year more and more murals pop up in the neighbourhood. With so much to see, we had to create a map to help capture it all.”
I’ve loved doing Instagrammable Wall Walks and Food Crawls in Old Strathcona over the last few years because of how many gems there are in the neighbourhood and there’s often new ones being added all the time so no tour is quite the same. I’m really excited about this new Mural Map resource that will help even more people experience all the artwork here!

Each tour has a max of 15 spots.
I’ll be hosting all tours but the experience will be slightly different depending on if it’s a walk/food crawl or scooter tour.
The Wall Walk + Food Crawl is $25 per person, and each participant will get:
- A take-home polaroid at a wall of their choice
- A mural map postcard
- 3 food / snacks
- We’ll visit about 20 walls and I’ll share fun facts about the artists, artwork, and the neighbourhood
The Scooter Tour is $20 per person, each participant will get:
- Access to a Spin scooter to use for the tour
- A take-home polaroid at a wall of their choice
- A mural map postcard
- 1 food / snack spot
- We’ll visit about 30 walls and I’ll share fun facts about the artists, artwork, and the neighbourhood
For all the ticketed walking tours I’ve done the last few years, I also donate a portion of ticket proceeds to charity. As these tours take place in Treaty Six Territory, a traditional meeting ground, gathering place and traveling route for the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene Nakota Sioux and Métis, as we learn more about the atrocities of the residential school system in Canada, and as part of my own personal, ongoing acts of reconciliation, 20% of all ticket sales for both my walking tours and Paths for People’s scooter tours will be donated to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.
Spots are limited, so don’t miss out!
I’ll also be releasing tickets to a separate Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue Instagrammable Wall Walk + Food Crawl just for my email newsletter subscribers. That walk will take place in September and details / ticket link will be sent to newsletter subscribers in my Aug. 25 email so be sure to subscribe prior to then for access!
These are the only Instagrammable Wall tours I’m doing this summer (2021) so I hope you can make it!
Thank you to the Old Strathcona Business Association for partnering with me to put on these Instagrammable Wall / Mural Map tours!
Safety note: These are physically distant, all-outdoor walks and scooter tours featuring smaller groups (max 15 participants per tour). Participants are encouraged to maintain at least a 6 feet distance from one another. Masks are encouraged but not mandatory as we will be outdoors. Food items will all be all outdoors. If you are sick, please STAY HOME. And lastly, this is all pandemic pending. If cases climb or restrictions are put in place before the tours, dates may be rescheduled or cancelled. Refunds will be issued if the event is cancelled.
