  • Get tickets to the 35th Annual Gay Pageant: The Met GAYla (10640 100 Ave.)

    • The 35th Annual Edmonton Gay Pageant is back on Friday, June 30 at the Matrix Hotel and taking inspiration from the Met Gala. “Immerse yourself in a world of vibrant colours, stunning fashion, and pure unadulterated celebration” and see who gets crowned Mr, Ms, or Mx Gay Edmonton.

  • Go to Pool + Movie Night in Devon (Devon Community Pool)

    • There’s a Pool Party + Screening of the Super Mario Bros. movie happening at the Devon Community Pool this Friday, June 30. $5 tickets!

  • Here’s a few Canada Day activities happening around town…

    • Be part of the annual Run (/Walk) for Reconciliation on July 1 in St. Albert! It’s FREE to attend (but they ask you register so they have a sense of who is coming). “Come join us for education, ceremony, and movement in honour of all those who attended Residential Schools. Both a 3K and 5K option are available, starting at Lions Park and ending at the Healing Garden, where you will be invited to tie an orange ribbon of remembrance.”

Get tickets to the Grindstone Theatre Comedy Festival July 5-9, 2023!

I’ve partnered with the Grindstone Theatre to tell you all about their upcoming Grindstone Theatre Comedy Festival taking place in Edmonton July 5-9, 2023 (next week!) at various locations (but mainly at The Grindstone Comedy Theatre & Bistro in Old Strathcona).

The Grindstone Comedy Festival is an annual independent stand-up, improv and sketch comedy festival that brings both national performers and rising local talent together under the Edmonton spotlight. There’s stand-up competitions, open mic, workshops, parties, plus all the guest comedians.

Grindstone Comedy Festival tickets range from $18-$38 and you can get 10% with my code LINDORK10. Click to browse the festival line-up and get tickets!

Thanks Grindstone Theatre for supporting my small business with this partner message!

Got an Edmonton area event, virtual event, or something coming up you think my readers would be interested in knowing about? Let me know!

Food to Try This Week

Eats this week: BREAD! cheese dip, backyard restaurants and more!
  • Check out the new Box Car Coffee (11926 129 Ave.)

    • There’s a cute new coffee shop in town—Box Car Coffee—in north east Edmonton’s Calder neighbourhood. This looks like a super Instagrammable spot (check out their bathroom!) with coffee + treats. Currently only open weekends but looks like they’ll open weekdays sometime this summer.

  • Experience the backyard restaurant Come Find Me (9621 82 Ave. / alley entrance)

    • Thanks Jessie for the heads up about Come Find Me, a cute new restaurant in the backyard courtyard of Take Care Cafe (9621 82 Ave.) east of Whyte. It’s the “alley entrance ‘round back” open for dinner Thursdays to Sundays. Twinkly lights and big trees, this place looks super cute. Resos for groups of 4 or more. Can’t wait to try! (also check out Take Care Cafe. They’re open during the day).

  • Grab a burger from Fox Burger’s new Leduc location (4901 50 St.)

    • The awesome Fox Burger has opened a second location in Leduc’s cute downtown! If their east side / Highlands location was maybe too far for you, this basically south Edmonton location may be better for a smashed burger jaunt. Love their food!

  • Try the bread (and other dishes) from May Restaurant (10522 124 St.)

    • I tried the new 124 Street location of May Restaurant for a friend’s surprise birthday last week and their BREAD dish is really good (among other dishes—steak, risotto, tartare) but I call out the bread specifically because usually bread can be so boring (my personal opinion lol) but it’s amazing how garlic butter and herbs and a fluffy rise can elevate a bread dish lol. Try it!

  • And here’s a few local food events you may be interested in…

  • Looking for day trip eats this summer? Head down to Lacombe, Alberta!

Ate something amazing recently? Want to show some love to a struggling restaurant? Have a take-out suggestion? Let me know to include in this newsletter.
