Review: XIX (Nineteen) – Revisited (again) for my birthday!

Mike and me at XIX Nineteen!

Mike and me at XIX Nineteen!

I knew exactly where I wanted to have my 24th birthday dinner party months in advance: XIX Nineteen!

XIX Nineteen has easily taken the top spot for my favourite ‘fancier’ restaurant in Edmonton and is always one that I recommend when people ask for dinner/date ideas. The food is just so damn good.

As I’ve written about XIX Nineteen before (here and here), I won’t go into too much detail this time around, I just really wanted to share photos of the amazing meal my friends and I had there for my birthday last Saturday.

I will add however, that this was the first time I’d ever taken Mike to XIX Nineteen and he was blown away! I know a restaurant is good when Mike’s face lights up between bites. These phrases were also uttered a lot: “This is the best ____ I’ve ever had” and “This is sooooo good.” I have been raving about the place to Mike for a while so I’m glad that the food lived up to the hype for him!!!

Thank you to Chef Andrew Fung and GM Nicole Mullins, and our server (whose name escapes me at the moment) for an incredible evening! It was the perfect spot to celebrate my birthday with close friends.

Happy birthday to me!

Happy birthday to me!

Hungry yet…? Wow!! Amazing food. If you haven’t tried XIX yet, seriously… go now! And if you want to eat any of the stuff you see in this post, go soon! They’re changing up their menu this fall.

If you’re curious as to which dishes were mine & Mike’s, we shared the Ahi Tuna Twists, Albacore Tuna Napoleon, and Beef Tataki (all SO GOOD!!!) I had the Beef Short Ribs and Mike had the New York Steak (both also diiiivine!)

Touching on price points: This dinner was definitely the most expensive one Mike and I have ever partaken in. But in this case, it was worth every single penny! So, so delicious. The dishes at XIX Nineteen always look incredible and more importantly, taste incredible.

Afterwards we went to check out the dueling piano show at the Red Piano in West Edmonton Mall. I went there last year for my after-birthday-dinner festivities and had such a blast I wanted to do it again this year. :) All in all, it was a fabulous night at both XIX Nineteen and the Red Piano and a perfect way to wrap up my birthday week!
