Try District Cafe’s feature brunch and Pride specials (10011 109 St.)
This post about District’s feature brunch Brown Butter Peach French Toast (available all June long) had my mouth watering!
They are also offering two special bakery items for Pride Month with $1 from their raspberry lemonade biscotti and $1 from their MnM cookie sales supporting Edmonton Pride Centre.
Grab some BBQ to support Transit Smokehouse & BBQ (12720 Fort Rd.)
The folks at Transit Smokehouse & BBQ are asking for your support. This is a BBQ restaurant inside one of the oldest buildings in Edmonton! And on Friday nights throughout the summer they’ll also have live music.
Check out all you can eat Japanese at Watari (10108 124 St.)
On my quest to catalogue All You Can Eat Japanese restaurants in Edmonton, I recently revisited Watari on 124 Street. They’ve been around a long time and offer more than 100 items on their menu including a spam sushi, some pretty good rolls, nice salad options, big crab sticks, great teriyaki beef and I appreciate the hand sanitizer bottles at every table.
Try Filipino brunch at Twenty Eight Urban Kitchen (4807 44 Ave., Stony Plain)
Out west of Edmonton in Stony Plain is a great restaurant called Twenty Eight Urban Kitchen, which is popular for their burgers (try The 28 Jawbreaker) and breakfast! As it’s owned by a Filipino family, the breakfast / brunch menu also includes some Filipino items including tocilog, longsilog and tapsilog rice + meat dishes.
Support Indigenous-owned / focused restaurants for Indigenous History Month
The food from Pei Pei Chei Ow is delicious (get the berry brisket sandwich!!!), you could also check out the Culina Family of Restaurants, Tee Pee Treats, or Homefire Grill to name a few Indigenous-owned eateries in the city.
And here’s a few local food events you may be interested in…

Dollarama is doing really well (who doesn’t love a dollar store buy? but also, in this economy? Yeah, I can see why dollar stores would be thriving).

The arctic will be iceless in the summer by 2030 :-(
If you’re planning water activities on the North Saskatchewan River this summer, please be safe! More and more Edmontonians are using the river which is great—but many don’t realize or think you need life jackets, a throw bag, whistle, etc.
