This 3-hour Instagrammable Wall + Food Crawl is presented in partnership with the Chinatown and Area Business Association & McCauley Revitalization and features 8+ walls + 5 food stops!
Your ticket ($30 per person) includes:
- FIVE food and drink stops at locally owned spots in the Chinatown / McCauley neighbourhood
- Pastries from Hong Kong Bakery
- Pastries from Zocalo in Little Italy
- Bubble Tea from Tea Bar
- Vietnamese banh mi sandwich from Van Loc
- Vietnamese noodle soup and spring roll from King Noodle House Pho Hoang
- One take-home polaroid photo at a wall along the route for each participant
- One take-home postcard listing walls + restaurants we visited on the route for each participant
- Fun facts about the artist, wall, neighbourhoods and restaurants
- Cap out at 20 people (so it’s a more intimate experience!)
Note: Kids 12 and under are free, however there are limited spots and we ask that parents share their food/drink with kids as they will not receive separate food/drinks at stops.
Please also note: unfortunately we cannot accommodate gluten-free or vegetarian dietary restrictions on this walk.

The McCauley District of Edmonton boasts more than 250 businesses that create a dynamic, multi-cultural quarter of the city and offers Edmontonians the chance to experience the world right here in Edmonton. This section of the city provides city residents and visitors alike with the chance to sample wares and taste delicacies from the Orient and Africa to Europe and the Middle-East all within walking distance! This culturally diverse corner of the provincial capital provides the unique collection of services from across the globe for all facets of life. It is home to an array of shops, boutiques and markets that provide not only the necessities but a variety of ethnic specialties, there are restaurants and cafes abound for either a night out or a quick bite, it is home to more than a dozen churches and there are recreation facilities including Commonwealth Stadium and the North Central Recreation Centre nearby providing sports and fitness opportunities. In this quaint neighbourhood you can find items ranging from Vietnamese noodle bowls, European style hand-tied floral bouquets, 100 types of olive oil, the largest old-style meat deli in the city, Chinese and Italian markets, bakeries featuring cultural delicacies and specialty clothing, decor and giftware boutiques offering one-of-a-kind merchandise. All of this in addition to restaurants, sidewalk cafes and gourmet coffee shops that specialize in authentic fare from various world cultures.

What is an Instagrammable Wall?
An Instagrammable Wall is basically an interesting-looking wall that makes a great backdrop for a photo of yourself or your friends, posted on social media (probably Instagram).
Instagrammable Walls can be mural walls, bold, colourful walls, graffiti walls, interesting textured-walls – you name it. They are walls that you’d describe as “Instagrammable” (or photographable and shareable online). Instagrammable Walls are not only murals, however there are many murals that are most certainly Instagrammable and in Edmonton, and lots more Instagrammable murals have been added in the city over the years thanks to the efforts of Rust Magic Street Art Festival and Real Fresh Canvas. (Note: not ALL murals are from this festival though, and not all walls are murals!!)
Instagrammable Walls add beauty to a city, and attracts people to a location that might otherwise not be frequented. Walls can often surprise you. My general rule of thumb is that an Instagrammable Wall needs to look pretty neat and be photographable with YOU at the base of it.
What is a Photo Walk?
A Photo Walk is when a group of people get together and walk around a specific location, finding interesting opportunities and areas for taking pictures. On these Instagrammable Wall Photo Walks you’re encouraged to bring your cameras/phones, cute outfits, water, and comfortable walking shoes!
What is a Food Crawl?
A Food Crawl is a curated dining experience, where a group of people come together to visit several restaurants in a specific location, trying a variety of dishes. I’ve been including food snacks and stops as part of my Instagrammable Wall Walks but sometimes will also host more food-focused crawls or walks!
In the case of the Chinatown Wall Walk + Food Crawl, food is as much a focus as the walls on this walk!
When did Instagrammable Walls of Edmonton Photo Walks begin?
The first Instagrammable Walls of Edmonton Photo Walk took place on Saturday, June 3, 2017 as part of Make Something Edmonton’s 100 in 1 Day transform your city event. I’ve hosted several walks each summer/fall (a bit of winter) since then, and have also created Guides to Instagrammable Walls in cities where I’ve travelled.

There’s been such a great response from Edmontonians who want to discover Instagrammable Walls! It’s also become a fantastic way to show visitors to the city a round Edmonton! Ultimately, these guides and walks are meant to help Edmontonians find beauty that’s all around this city, encourage people to explore their city (or the city they’re traveling to), raise the profile of artists behind mural Instagrammable Walls, and spur the creation of more Instagrammable Walls!
