What’s OPEN Guide: Where to Dine-In on Christmas Day (Dec. 25) in Edmonton

Each year I get asked “do you know what restaurants are open on Christmas Day?” and each year I share a handful of restaurants I know off the top of my head that generally are open on Dec. 25, including my parents Vietnamese restaurant King Noodle House Pho Hoang —as long as Christmas Day does not fall on their regular days off Monday or Tuesday.

Most Chinese restaurants are a pretty safe bet for being open on Christmas Day as well. Along with most restaurants at fancier hotels. East/Southeast Asian spots generally tend to be open, so if you have a favourite spot it’s worth just asking them what their Christmas hours area.

If you are reading this in a later year than the year this post is being published (2024), please just make sure you call the restaurant to confirm they are still planning to be open on Christmas Day of the year you are currently in. (This sentence is fun to write because it’s like someone from the past—me—is talking directly to someone from the future—you! lol)

In general, I recommend you call the restaurant you are interested in dining at on Christmas Day to double check hours of operation and / or make a reservation so you are not disappointed on the day of. 

Please note: this is NOT an exhaustive list. It includes options covering different locations in the city, different food genres, and locations I personally have really enjoyed. There may very well be more restaurants within similar food genres open on Dec. 25. I encourage you to call and check for your favourite spots if these locations I’ve included in this guide aren’t interesting to you. 

Please also note I’ve included some specific locations for some spots however if they have additional locations that are not listed, it’s either because those locations are closed or I listed the locations I personally frequent, so you can double check with your preferred location as well!
