Visiting the World in a Weekend at the Edmonton Heritage Festival has become an August long weekend tradition for my mom and I. It’s easily one of my favourite summer events!
Not only do I love trying authentic foods that I’m normally not exposed to (my Heritage Fest rule is no East Asian foods because I eat those all the time!) But I also love seeing traditional dance performances and browsing tents, sifting through traditional clothing, shoes, art and more! It’s also so great that all the pavilions are organized by our local cultural associations!
I wish I could sample food from all 70 pavilions (maybe in 2018!) but we generally make a pretty good dent with our 60 tickets ($60). For our World in a Weekend, we visited Spain, Iran, Netherlands, Mexico, Syria, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Ecuador and Romania for food, and a few more stops for entertainment (including Russia, Scandinavia and Nepal).
Here are a few scenes from our trip to Heritage Festival 2017!

Wow, your photos are wonderful! I was there too and only could fit in 3 dishes, but I wish I would have tried the tacos from Mexico.
Beautiful pictures!!! Actually the girls in the yellow dresses are not Nicaraguan dancers, they are Salvadorean dancers!
Thanks Liz!! I will update!
