Food to Try This Week!

Eats this week: DRTY ICE CREAM, poutine, new Japanese in Stony Plain & more!
  • Grab some Steve and Dan’s Fresh B.C. Fruit at Wild Flower Store opening

  • Check out DRTY ICE CREAM’s Kanto Party (Station Park, Whyte Ave.)

    • The new DRTY ICE CREAM ‘s grand opening celebration KANTO PARTY is taking place this Saturday, June 7 from 1-11 p.m. at Station Park on Whyte Ave. The event is FREE to attend with live DJs, a concert, Filipino cultural performances, giveaways, a photobooth experience and of course – DRTY ICE CREAM from the newest ice cream on the block.

  • Try Tenkuu Japanese restaurant in Stony Plain (5400 50 St. Stony Plain, AB)

    • There’s a new Japanese restaurant in the Town of Stony Plain just west of Edmonton. We tried Tenkuu Japanese and had a great experience! It has a great interior, big portion sizes (large bento boxes and rolls), and fresh, flavourful sashimi. Also a patio that will be great for the summer!

  • Share a few bites at Darling (9616 Whyte Ave.)

    • My friend Diane recommends you share a few delicious bites from Darling Restaurant this week. “That thick whipped ricotta toast is so good and so filling. The olives are just perfect for snacking as you drink wine with friends. Tomato cucumber salad is very refreshing.” – Diane

    • I’ve had the tomato cucumber salad and ricotta toast before as well and absolutely love! So good.

  • Hit up the patio at Cafe Bicyclette (8627 91 St.)

    • I recently took out-of-town guests to the patio at Cafe Bicyclette in Edmonton’s French Quarter and we had a great lunch! Definitely share the poutine, and you can’t really go wrong with any number of their sandwiches (I got Montreal Smoked Meat). It’s also a pet-friendly patio, which we love!

  • Visit an award-winning coffee shop!

    • The 6th annual Th3rdwave Coffee Award winners have been announced and Common Ground Coffee (2727 182 St.) won New Cafe of the Year, Take Care Cafe (9621 82 Ave.) won Coffee Shop of the Year, Roasti (52 Brentwood Blvd, Sherwood Park), won Roaster of the Year and Rogue Wave Coffee Roasters (11322 119 St.) won Established Roaster of the Year. If you want to go on a bit of an award-winning coffee crawl.

  • And here are some upcoming food events you may be interested in!

Ate something amazing recently? Want to show some love to a struggling restaurant? Have a take-out suggestion? Let me know to include in this newsletter.
