The 5 Artists 1 Love exhibit at the Art Gallery of Alberta kicks off this Saturday, Feb. 22 until March 30. You can book tickets for a Curated Tour from 2-4 p.m. or plan to attend anytime during the exhibit period. The Comic Strip at West Edmonton Mall is bringing in two really funny Asian- American comedians over the next two weekends: Jiaoying Summers Feb 20-22 and Jason Cheny Feb 27-March 2. We are excited to go see Jason!
Catch a stand-up comedy show from Toronto-based comedian Jen Sakato at the Grindstone Theatre on Friday, Feb. 21.
The popular ‘Nurse Jon’ is also doing a comedy show this weekend (but it’s sold out) but I thought I’d mention it as a nice nod to successful touring Asian comedians!

Celebrate the Town of Devon’s 75th anniversary (Devon Community Centre)
The Town of Devon is celebrating 75 years on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 1-3:30 p.m., with free live entertainment, games and food (first come first served).

Join Educators from the Royal Alberta Museum for Edmonton Then and Now: Royal Alberta Museum Pop-up as they share interpretive objects from Edmonton’s past at the Stanley A. Milner Library in Downtown Edmonton on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 1-4 p.m. Feel, interact, and learn with items including school supplies from the 1881 School House, ice skates, tools from the old Post Office, and more.

Award-winning Edmonton restaurants Fu’s Repair Shop and Cafe Caribbean are collaborating with Feed the Soul YEG to offer a special Trinidadian + Chinese fusion menu during the Callaloo + Chow Trini-Chinese pop-up event only happening THIS WEEK until Feb. 23.
Make a reservation to try Callaloo (Trinidad’s national dish), Chicken Chow Mein, Trini Fried Rice, Chinese 5-Spice Wings, Geera Pow (Bao), Coconut Cake and Sorrel (a sweet, spiced Trinidadian drink) Margaritas. The Geera Pow Bao and Sorrel drink (non-alcoholic) were my favourite bites and slurps.

Get the oxtail fries from XO Bar + Bistro (downtown or Windermere)
Celebrated my friend’s belated birthday and upcoming baby birth with a lunch at XO Bar + Bistro Vietnamese restaurant in Windermere. The Oxtail Fries with braised oxtail gravy, fried sunny side up eggs, scallions and cilantro were excellent for sharing. XO Bar + Bistro tends to have some unique dishes you won’t find at too many local Vietnamese spots so I like visiting for them!
Order the grilled artichokes from SABOR (10220 103 St.)
I had a nice Mediterranean meal at SABOR in downtown Edmonton over the weekend including delicious seafood, risotto, and damn good grilled artichokes! The lovely owners are getting ready to open another Bodega location on Whyte Ave. and Calgary, as well as a cafe / wine bar concept in the building next door (formerly Centre High). Super happy for their successes.
