Food to Try This Week!
Do a night out at Tzin Wine & Tapas (10115 104 St.)
For my belated company Christmas party, we had a lovely nice out at Tzin Wine & Tapas downtown. It’s an Edmonton Food Fave on the list I co-wrote with Sharon of Only Here For the Food and it’s excellent. The Bacon is a must-order, but we also enjoyed our prawns, patatas, steelhead salmon, risotto, and more. We ordered off menu but they also offer a “Feed Me!” option—Chef’s delicious choice.
Dig into the handmade noodles from Noodle Feast (3440 99 St.)
During the holidays I had a great lunch at Noodle Feast in south Edmonton. Specializing in authentic, Northern Chinese cuisine featuring handcrafted noodles and family recipes, this popular noodle shop was bustling when I stopped in. I always have a tough time deciding between their Sliced, Rolled, Hand Pulled or Spinach noodles! I usually pick a pork bowl!
Try the modern Caribbean cuisine from Sauce (13655 St. Albert Trail)
Also over the holidays I enjoyed a visit to Sauce Modern Caribbean, trying their Cod Fish Cakes, Lindeal’s Roti Platter, Yurimein (fried whole red snapper). The restaurant is in the same complex as the North Cineplex movie theatre so you could plan dinner and a show here!
Go for brunch at May (10522 124 St.)
Diane is raving about the brunch—particularly the mushroom dishes—at May on 124 Street. She writes:
“I loved the vindaloo mushroom toast and tempura mushrooms. The tempura mushrooms are so so good. Crispy and just very snackable.”
If it’s still on the menu, when I went awhile ago they had an excellent, massive bread dish. It sounds kind of plain but it was really good and visually excellent.
Chinatown Pick of the Week – (10569 97 St.)
Co Chin Saigon has some delicious, authentic, Vietnamese dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in the city. This is a participating Chinatown Chow Down restaurant. Dine here and at the other restaurants featured in the Chow Down Challenge Passport from now until March for a chance to monthly and grand prizes! You could try the Pho Suong Bo with big beef short rib right in the broth, or the Com Ga Roti, a rice plate with marinated deep fried, super crispy, roasted chicken leg, or time your visit for the daily specials.
And here are some upcoming food events you may be interested in!
