Food to Try This Week!
Check out Edmonton OpenTable Top 100 Restaurants in Canada (various)
Congratulations to Bernadette’s, SABOR, and Tzin Wine & Tapas, the three Edmonton restaurants that made OpenTable’s Top 100 Restaurants in Canada 2024 edition! This list is voted on by diners who make resos at the restaurants. Three great spots to consider dining at this holiday season!
Grab some Birch & Bear Pizza at their newest location (8210 106 Ave.)
Congratulations to Birch and Bear Pizza (from the folks behind Toast Culture) who have opened their third location in Forest Heights! I have friends who live in the area who are HUGE fans and could not have willed this new location to be any closer and more convenient for them lol. They also have a Jasper Ave. (inside Toast Culture) location and a Ritchie (inside Ale Architect) location. I am a fan of their Potato, Capicola and Truffle Oil and The Bear pizzas in particular.
Check out South Island Pie Co.’s new pop-up location (12415 107 Ave.)
Congratulations to South Island Pie Co. for the grand opening (today, Wednesday Nov. 20) of their Hot Pie Pop-up Shop inside Zwick’s Pretzels. They’ll be serving their hearty “Down Under”-style meat pies for lunch and dinner Wednesdays through Saturdays.
Try the Hong Kong dessert bento from Sweethoney Dessert (10746 Whyte Ave.)
My friend and I had a nice visit to Sweethoney Dessert in Old Strathcona, sharing their “Sweethoney Dessert Trellis” (like a bento box) featuring nine squares of different desserts! Check my Facebook post for a list of what comes in each box. Our favourite square was the Matcha Ice Cream with taro balls, shaved ice and condensed milk. It’s $23.99 and intended for sharing. Some squares were misses for us lol but you may enjoy them all!
Celebrate Wokbox’s 20-year anniversary (various locations)
Wokbox, which originated in downtown Edmonton 20 years ago (!!) is celebrating their 20-year anniversary with different food specials and a contest to win a trip for two to Asia (no purchase required!) Good luck! In the Edmonton area there are over a dozen locations to choose from with a menu inspired by 10 Asian countries.
Dine at Shogun All You Can Eat Sushi & Pho before it closes (10125 121 St.)
Shogun All You Can Eat Sushi & Pho is closing permanently. Nov 24 is their final day of operation. Go bid them farewell and enjoy their AYCE menu one last time! I never got around to sharing an AYCE guide to Edmonton (still on my list lol) but I would have noted how much I liked Shogun’s look and feel (it’s nice inside!) and spaciousness, paired with the AYCE menu.
