Food to Try This Week!
To be honest I don’t have much for local food recommendations this week as I’ve been in Banff most of the week, lol.
If you’re headed to Banff anytime soon, I recently had great meals at Hello Sunshine (one of my favourite Banff eateries), Sudden Sally (one of Banff’s newest restaurants inside its newest Hotel Canoe), and Maclab Bistro (inside the Banff Centre). I know you’ll enjoy your meals at all three spots (and if you go before Nov. 7 you can take advantage of the Taste for Adventure food festival menus!)
Before I headed out to Banff, I had an awesome Mexican meal at El Taco Loco Mexican Restaurant in Spruce Grove. You won’t go wrong with any of their tacos, but I also love their Papas Enchiladas – potatoes tossed in their housemade spicy sauce (it’s SO spicy and SO good, it’s actually so addictive lol), plus Choriqueso (gooey, melted cheese with housemade chorizo) and Tostada de Ceviche (cold shrimp and vegetables with their housemade chips). Yum!
On my way home from Banff I stopped in Calgary for a birthday lunch with a friend at Major Tom, a wonderful restaurant located on the 40th floor of a downtown Calgary skyscraper. Food, non-alcoholic drinks, vibes and view!!! were all excellent. Highly recommend!
And thanks to Diane for sharing this food recommendation for Mr.Bun 壹笼包子 (located at 10828 82 Ave. / Whyte Ave.)
From Diane: “I liked Mr. Bun! The stir fried rice cakes were good. And the dumplings were soupy!!”
And here’s a few food events you may be interested in…
