Check out the Edmonton International Cat Festival!
The 10-year anniversary pawty of the Edmonton International Cat Festival, Alberta’s biggest and Canada’s longest-running cat festival that I founded back in 2014, takes place this Caturday, May 25, 2024 in Downtown Edmonton (MacEwan 10910 104 Ave.)
We have an ameowzing volunteer Cat Festival Committee that have been working away getting this celebration ready for you!! 100% of purr-ceeds are donated to local rescues. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door and Kids 12 and under are FREE. There are a ton of CATivities and PURRgramming—something for everyone (but like, obviously cat lovers especially lol). Plus famous Internet cats!!
Expurrience an Adults Only 18+ Cat-themed Drag & Burlesque Show!
This should be a lot of fun! “Step Yr P😸ssy(cat) Up” in partnership with Queer Joy YEG and the Edmonton Cat Festival is taking place on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 9910 in Downtown Edmonton with funds from this particular Cat Fest Month event donated to the Alberta Sphynx Rescue!
Just before that you can book a reservation at Dolly’s Cocktails or The Common with cat-inspired food & drink specials + donations to local rescues as part of a little Cat Fest Block Party!
Check out Tasty Truck Food Festival (Fan Park at ICE District)
The Tasty Truck Food Truck Festival is coming to ICE District in Downtown Edmonton 10104 104 Ave. this weekend Saturday May 25 & 26. This is a family-friendly event on a fully-licensed event grounds, with music and some of the best food trucks in town. FREE to enter.
Experience Western Canada’s Largest Ukrainian Festival (Borden Park)
UFest Edmonton Ukrainian Festival is a celebration of Ukrainian culture, food, music, visual arts, crafts and dance taking place Friday & Saturday May 24 & 25 at Borden Park. FREE entry!
Explore Downtown Spark (various locations)
Be sure to check out whimsical art installations and events in downtown Edmonton as part of the Downtown Spark event running May 23 – June 2! Art is free to check out along with most events.
Take in Sprouts New Play Festival for Kids (Westbury Theatre)
Get tickets to the 22nd annual Sprouts New Play Festival for Kids featuring new short plays for kids and families this Saturday, May 25. There are three plays. ASL Interpretation and stroller parking provided plus lobby activities.
And maybe head to southern Alberta for the Rise Up Hot Air Ballon Festival!
The Rise Up Hot Air Balloon Festival returns to Medicine Hat in Southern Alberta from May 23-26! More than a dozen hot air balloons will take to the skies—along with community events and evening glows. I was working with Tourism Medicine Hat last week and was sad to miss the festival by just a week! Be sure to check Tourism Medicine Hat’s Experience Guide too!

International Childrens’ Festival of the Arts in St. Albert Giveaway!
The 43rd International Children’s Festival of the Arts in St. Albert—one of the largest and longest-running children’s festivals in North America—returns next weekend May 30 – June 2!
The International Children’s Festival of the Arts brings the best in children’s arts and cultural experiences and includes both FREE and ticketed arts experiences. I’m looking forward to bringing Benjimin to the festival’s Toddler Town, a community-inspired munchkin metropolis that’s a one-stop shop for storytelling, musical performances, crafts, self-guided sensory bins and an active fun zone. There’s so much fun arts and crafts, plus roving performers, an outdoor stage, a kid sized maze and more! Fun for the whole family.
