Food to Try This Week

Eats this week: cookies, cakes, Dutch treats and more!
  • Pick up some goodies from Dutch Delicious Bakery and Deli (13232 118 Ave.)

    • As I’m sending this newsletter out from the land of the Dutch this week (lol) I have Dutch cuisine on my mind—so since you can’t eat at the same Amsterdam spots as me, I wanted to suggest you check out Dutch Delicious Bakery and Deli in Edmonton! They’ve got great sweet and savoury bites, freezer items, and depending on the day, host events!

  • Check out Schnitzel Tuesday at Otto Food + Drink (11405 95 St.)

    • Also Dutch/European-inspired, Otto Food + Drink is now doing Schnitzel Tuesday — get a special Schnitzel plate available on Tuesdays, plus beer for $7! (I think that’s how I read it lol). I just had schnitzel in Amsterdam today and it was excellent!

  • Try the cookies from Great North Cookie Co. (20 McLeod Ave.)

    • I enjoyed a box of cookies I picked up from Great North Cookie Co. in Spruce Grove this week! The space is also cute, with a kids play area and I noticed they were Judge’s Choice winner of the Highlands Culinary Arts Cook-off in 2023—the one year I missed being a judge! lol. Great North Cookie Co does deliver / take online orders as well.

  • Close out Black History / Futures Month by trying a Black-owned restaurant!

    • Feed the Soul Dining Week may officially be over and hopefully you were able to try some delicious food from Black-owned restaurants in the city, but let’s keep the love going for the final days of Black History / Futures Month (and beyond that too). Personally I wanted to stop by Sauce Modern Caribbean Cuisine but didn’t have time during the week. Hope to get there when I’m back!

  • Consider picking up some treats from Sugared & Spiced (10334 82 Ave.)

  • Here’s some food events and deals you might be interested in…

Ate something amazing recently? Want to show some love to a struggling restaurant? Have a take-out suggestion? Let me know to include in this newsletter.

From the Blog Vault

Around this time last year I appeared on Cityline TV to share about Legacy Books and ideas to document your family’s story! Cityline is North America’s longest-running daytime talk show for women. Still some good ideas + great reminders and honestly I am still ashamed I haven’t completed my plans for my parents legacy video.
