Experience the Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival
Dreamspeakers International Indigenous Film Festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary—making it Canada’s oldest running Indigenous Film Festival! Check out works by Indigenous artists in film, video, radio, and new media from April 19-23—they’re screening 52 films at Metro Cinema Garneau Theatre + workshops and community events at Milner Library.
Experience Embrace Pole Art & Fitness’ Annual Showcase (5509 76 Ave.)
Get tickets for Embrace Pole Art & Fitness for their annual spring showcase this Saturday, April 15 from 3-5 p.m. It’s a celebration of their 7th anniversary and featuring performances by Embrace’s students and instructors. Note: while the show is not restricted to adults only, due to the sensual nature of some of the content please use discretion!
Get tickets to Alien Babes Burlesque (Beercade, 10544 82 Ave.)
Head to Beercade on Whyte for an evening of Aliens and Oddities. This is a unique burlesque show taking place on Sunday, April 16th from 6-9 p.m. It’s a show sure to “scintillate, seduce, and send you to space!” There will also be 10% off food with a purchase of tickets online, $5 highballs and $6 tequila.

The Pysanky for Peace exhibit is on at Kingsway Mall until April 30. Newcomer artists from Ukraine painted 14 oversized Pysanky eggs that you + orgs can bid on to raise money for Ukrainian Canadian Social Services.

Pretty Woman: The Musical is in Edmonton this week April 11-16. based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, the show will lift your spirits and light up your heart.

I was craving a sizzling plate from Teapsy Lab so had to satisfy those cravings this week! Since Hanjan bought them, they’ve also introduced Hanjan Korean bingsu desserts and Honey Butter Bread to the cafe, in addition to their usual snacks and bubble tea!

We had such a great time on the patio of Fu’s Repair Shop over the long weekend. Check it out if you haven’t been yet! Some favourite dishes of the night include Mr. Chen’s Beef Noodle Bowl, Siu Aap 5 Spice Duck Tacos, Truffle Siu Mai pork and shrimp dumplings and the Wai Siu Chow Fan house fried rice with house-made cha-siu BBQ pork. Yum!
Depending on if spots think we’re in the Spring of Deception or Real Spring, additional patios should have opened up or be opening up very soon!!
