Things to Do This Week

If attending events, please check their COVID-19 safety requirements. It’s still a good idea to mask-up—especially indoors. We’re still in a pandemic. Please get vaccinated/boosted!

Lindorks Lists 131- Things to Do Eat Know This Week - Explore Edmonton Food and Events
Things to do this week: Sari Sari Market, Babas & Borshch, Purple City Music Festival and more!
  • Check out the Sari Sari Market (72 Ave. between 99 – 100 St.)

    • Yelo’d Ice Cream is hosting another Sari Sari Filipino Market on Saturday, August 27 from 12-9 p.m. There will be a wide range of vendors selling delicious food, clothes, services and more!

  • Celebrate Oliver Community League’s 100th Birthday (Ezio Faraone Park)

    • The Oliver Community League is celebrating 100 years as a community on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from Noon to 10 p.m. at Ezio Faraone Park and everyone is invited! This FREE event includes live music and entertainment, family-friendly fun and games, plus food + beer gardens (not free), and more.

  • Head to the Purple City Music Festival (Hawrelak Park)

    • Purple City Music Festival (from the creators of up+dt fest), takes place at Hawrelak Park this weekend August 26 & 28 with individual show, day pass or full weekend wristbands available. Check out the line-up!

  • Grab some lemonade for Lemonade Stand Day (various locations)

    • Head out on a lemonade circuit for Lemonade Stand Day on August 28 in support of the Stollery Childrens’ Hospital. It started with 30 stands around the city and now there are over 350 that participate! Check out Lemonade Trail (the map lol) and visit for a good cause.

  • Drive out to the Babas & Borshch Ukrainian Festival (Lamont, Alberta)

    • Just an hour north east of Edmonton this weekend you’ll find the Babas & Borshch Ukrainian Festival in the Town of Lamont! If you’re looking for a summer day trip, this might be a good one—with a Borshch Cook Off, dancers, choirs, kids activities, entertainment, displays and more! This event celebrates the 130th year anniversary of Ukrainians in AB.

Last chance to check out Summer in Secord!

The summer fun is almost wrapping up at West Secord and Secord Heights. I’ve partnered with Secord to tell you about the family-friendly neighbourhood located just minutes away from lots of amenities (like West Edmonton Mall!) It’s also close to Callingwood Farmer’s Market, home to 125+ vendors, and when you drop by the show homes at West Secord and Secord Heights this Aug, you can take home an awesome goodie bag featuring items from the market picked out by my friend Justine Ma.

Secord Show homes are open:
Monday to Thursday, 3-8 PM
Saturday, Sunday & Holidays, 12-5 PM
First come, first serve, no appointment necessary.
One goodie caddy per family, while supplies last.

Food to Try This Week

Please continue safely supporting local restaurants, in whatever way works for your comfort levels. If not dining in, please do take-out! Mask-up and please stay home if you’re sick.

Eats this week: Italan at Dalla, drinks from The Common, Thai from Numchok Wilai and more!
  • Try the Italian cuisine at Dalla Tavola Zenari (10166 100a St.)

  • Celebrate The Common’s 13th Anniversary (9910 109 St.)

    • The Common in downtown Edmonton has been around for 13 years now! That’s quite a feat in the restaurant industry. Check out their tasty food, drinks, and nightlife vibes to celebrate the milestone.

  • Grab some Thai food from Numchok Wilai (10623 124 St.)

    • Lily and Justine both recommended Thai restaurant Numchok Wilai this week, a family-owned business on 124 Street that could use some extra love these days. Authentic and delicious, I used to frequent for lunches but it’s been awhile myself—time for a return!

  • Visit Edmonton’s new Pokemon-themed cafe (6825 177 St.)

    • I know Mike is eager to visit the new Swirl Cafe & Games, a Pokemon-themed cafe that just opened in west Edmonton. Not only will you find Pokemon-themed drink and treats, but there’s also Pokemon merch as well as plans for tournaments, leagues and other Pokemon-y things lol.

  • Get lunch at MilkCrate (EPCOR Tower 10423 101 St.)

    • I had an awesome dinner out on a farm field as part of Chef Steve Brochu / Taste Alberta’s Feast in the Field event last weekend (hosted), and thought I’d shout out to Chef Brochu’s restaurant MilkCrate—which is downtown in EPCOR Tower. Lunch service has been pretty slow lately, so if you’re looking to try a new and delicious spot for lunch, give it a try!

  • Also—did you see my Arby’s deliveries this August?

Ate something amazing recently? Want to show some love to a struggling restaurant? Have a take-out suggestion? Let me know to include in this newsletter.
