Things to Do This Week
If attending events, please check their COVID-19 safety requirements. It’s still a good idea to mask-up—especially indoors. We’re still in a pandemic. Please get vaccinated/boosted!
Take in food and entertainment at Heritage Festival (Hawrelak Park)
Be sure to check out the last Heritage Festival at Hawrelak Park for a few years (due to park renovations) this long weekend July 30-August 1! 60 countries and cultures will be represented at 50 outdoor pavilions, with 25 entertainment stages throughout the park. There will be no food tickets this year (purchase directly from pavilions using credit ore debit, or you can buy spending cards with cash).
Check out World Music Week (Hawrelak Park)
While you’re planning your Heritage Festival visit, take in World Music Week at the Heritage Amphitheatre. This is a 4-day music festival celebrating diverse culture featuring local, national and international artists expressing cultural music, song and dance all weekend long.
Dance at Disco in the Park (Louise McKinney Riverfront Park)
Check out this weekend of all day dancing at Disco in the Park—fully licensed, food, DJs and live performances plus pre-and-after parties.
Get lost at the Edmonton Corn Maze (51529 Range Road 262, Spruce Grove)
The Edmonton Corn Maze is back for the season with an Edmonton Elks design! Check out the corn maze and farm market (and look forward to the blooming sunflowers mid August to September!)
Go for a ride on the Edmonton River Boat (9734 98 Ave.)
The Edmonton River Boat is back in action with weekend sails + buffet dinners, weekend brunches, sunset. cruises and more. I’ve actually never been on it! Maybe this summer (let me know how it is if you go!)
Catch an outdoor comedy show at The Backyard (10004 103A Ave.)
The Backyard in downtown Edmonton—home to awesome live music and events, is hosting a comedy show all day and night this Sat, July 30!
Experience the Summer at Secord Heights + West Secord!
I’ve partnered with Secord to promote their summer show homes! Plan a show home crawl :)
Summer at Secord continues at West Secord and Secord Heights! Secord is a family-friendly neighbourhood with three beautiful playgrounds (The David Thomas King Playground, Secord Pond Playground and Secord Playground NE) and plenty of space and fun for kids and friends to enjoy. Plan to check out beautiful show homes built by Coventry Homes, Jayman BUILT, Parkwood Master Builder, City Homes, Daytona, Sterling, and Pacesetter and explore the neighbourhood! Starting Aug. 11, you could receive an awesome surprise and delight prizes when you visit the show homes!
Show homes are open:
Monday to Thursday, 3-8 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday & Holidays, 12-5 p.m.
* First come, first serve, no appointment necessary.

Food to Try This Week
Please continue safely supporting local restaurants, in whatever way works for your comfort levels. If not dining in, please do take-out! Mask-up and please stay home if you’re sick.
Get your brunch on at Blue Plate Diner (12323 Stony Plain Rd.)
After 18 years, the Blue Plate Diner is closing its doors. “Please please please come by in the coming weeks to share food, memories and tears with our phenomenal staff who have been so supportive and amazing through a ridiculously trying 3 years.” Plan your visit soon before it’s too late.
Try French cuisine and drinks from Partake (12431 102 Ave.)
Give cute little French restaurant Partake a try this week. Order some expertly crafted drinks (try the No. 25!), beef tartare and vegetable tarte to name a few dishes—I was also eyeing up their BUTTER FLIGHT lol, try different types of butter.
Dig into the pesto mac and cheese from Seoul Fried Chicken (two locations)
I am just obsessed with the pesto mac and cheese from Seoul Fried Chicken (and okay, the chicken too!) Normally I get it as a side in the lunch box but over the weekend I ordered the full size mac and cheese and it was pretty glorious. Highly recommend. They have an Old Strathcona and Downtown location now.
Try the popsicles + Roti N’ Curry from Cafe Bel-Air (8020 101 St.)
Try this Vegan dish from Cafe Bel-Air, consisting of two freshly made, small-batch rotis and curries (eggplant kidney beans, pumpkin, soya tomato curry, coconut chutney and homemade chili sauce), in small batches, only available on Wednesdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
Rotis are a popular street food in Mauritius (where the Cafe Bel-Air owners are from). They also make a unique Mauritian shortbread dessert sandwich Napolitaine in different flavours and shapes—and of course, the popsicles!
Check out two new ice cream shops in Edmonton
There’s a new ice cream shop in Parkallen Annie Rue (6531 111 St.) and a new ice cream shop in Westmount Twice Cream (10983 127 St.) and they’re both getting rave reviews! My friend Diane tried Annie Rue and recommends the blueberry and strawberry, and lemon cream pie flavours. The Tres Leches from Twice Cream looks great too! Enjoy!
Also: did you see a had a potato party for my birthday?Highly recommend! (Feel free to copy!) I think I’ll do a noodle theme next time, lol.
Ate something amazing recently? Want to show some love to a struggling restaurant? Have a take-out suggestion? Let me know to include in this newsletter.
