BIG LIFE UPDATE IN THE BROWN/HOANG HOUSEHOLD:
After nearly 15 years working in the plumbing and construction industry, my husband Mike Brown, who many of you have come to know and love through our shared adventures online, is switching careers and is now a Realtor!
Mike has signed on as a licensed residential Realtor with Royal LePage Noralta Real Estate, a proudly Canadian real estate brokerage with offices in Edmonton, Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan. He’s so excited for this career switch, and I’m so proud of him!
As a Realtor, Mike will be running his own business (Mike Brown Realty!) working with clients (hopefully you!) on their home buying and selling journey.
As such, you’ll be seeing a lot more of Mike online, on his own channels and on mine, as he works to build his presence and career in real estate.
A major part of being a Realtor is connecting with the community! That’s something we already do quite a lot of with my job, and something we’re excited to do even more now in Mike’s new role.
In many ways I’ll be pretty involved in Mike’s new job too (why wouldn’t I help my husband with the marketing and content side of realty when I live and breathe it in my own work?)
What do you think of these photos I took of him for his realty career launch? 🥰
But this will be quite a change for us!!
When I first started my marketing and content creation business full-time back in 2019, Mike’s encouragement, support and steady pay cheque was hugely helpful. That’s going to probably be the biggest adjustment for us as a family with Mike’s new career. Steady pay cheques are not the norm in my work nor his new gig. I’ll admit I’m nervous (still excited, but nervous) about that aspect of the career change, but I’m honestly so happy for him.
Mike has worked at the same company, in the same field, for most of his professional plumbing career. He started as a service and out-of-town camp and construction site plumber and worked his way to Operations Manager. They’ve always been so good to him! But he had felt for sometime that he had done all he could in the position and the company, and had been itching for a change.
More flexible hours was also part of the decision to switch things up. In his trades gigs, Mike worked 10-12 hour days and was tired all the time. I mean, you know what they say about running your own business, now he’ll work 24 hours a day and be tired all the time (lol) but at least it will be working for himself. The flexible hours means he’ll get to see our son more (he’s literally the best dad), and it also gives us a bit more options for when I need support in my work (he’s a great photographer/videographer!) So, a few benefits there with the different schedule.
Anyone who has met Mike, or seen his cameos in my videos and content, know he’s extremely personable. He’s absolutely that someone you can drop into a room (or a cruise ship—speaking from experience lol) full of strangers and he’ll come out of it having made a bunch of new friends and memorable moments. His warm, friendly, inviting personality and the fact that he cares—a lot—about doing a good job, I think will be a huge asset to him being your Realtor, helping you find your dream home. As will the trades / construction knowledge and perspective he’ll be able to bring to your home search or sale! And does this count as a qualification? Mike is also extremely invested in real estate reality shows, lol.
Mike is really looking forward to launching this next stage of his life, this new and exciting chapter, and I hope you’ll consider being part of it.
