This December (2020), I was asked to host a morning show segment on Global Edmonton sharing local ideas to create a four-course holiday meal at home! The timing was perfect as I had also just recently shared a Guide for Where To Order Take-Home Christmas Meals in Edmonton.
Watch the Global Edmonton segment below, and read on for some of my notes!
Edmonton blogger Linda Hoang shares at-home holiday dinner options
The curated selection of local take-home products featured:
- Meuwly’s Build Your Own Charcuterie Kits: Who doesn’t love a beautiful charcuterie spread! Sometimes the hardest part of making your own board is figuring out which meats, cheeses, crackers and condiments go well together but in this case, Meuwly’s makes it easy by choosing for you! The kits work for 2-4 people and can also be made gluten or dairy free. Just assemble and enjoy!
- Sunterra Holiday Feasts: For your main meal there’s a lot of great options for local take-home holiday dinners, you can find a full list on my blog, but I’m excited to tell you about Sunterra’s Holiday Feast! While many offerings are family style, Sunterra’s are individually portioned Christmas dinners featuring turkey, ham, or a vegetarian wellington so everyone in the family gets to pick exactly what they want! Plus: each serving comes with soup, salad, and banana coconut cream pie. Just heat and eat!
- Sweetness Colouring Cookies, Holiday House and Macarons: a MUST for your household this season especially if you have kids—Sweetness is a local virtual bakery that sells sugar cookies you can colour with their edible ink markers! It’s such a special gift idea for anyone with kids at home because it’s a tasty treat that also doubles as a fun crafting activity! I’ve had a few people ask me where to find local gingerbread houses and I’ve been suggesting they try Sweetness’ sugar cookie colouring houses instead! Top it off with their beautiful holiday macarons—which taste as good as they look.
- Premium cocktails using Strathcona Spirits: And finally to round out our take-home holiday feast, you’ll need a drink right? Make easy but premium cocktails using Strathcona Spirits. Seaberry is a botanical that grows all over Edmonton and Strathcona Spirits picks it by hand for their seaberry gin. It makes for a fantastic, kind of sour, bitter, tangy flavour combo in their seaberry gin and tonic. They’ve also just released a 44-month aged whiskey. Plus these beautiful bottles will look so great on your bar cart or as a gift!
Many of the holiday take-home meals and kits have order deadlines though so if you’re interested in ordering, get on it before it’s too late!
Note: Edmonton agency Press + Post partnered with me to host this segment on behalf of their clients!
I’ve tried products from all four local businesses and was happy to talk them up on TV!
Thank you to the Global Edmonton team for having me on!!!
Happy Holidays!!
Linda
