FIFA Women’s World Cup fever has hit Edmonton! Over the weekend, more than 53,000 people packed Commonwealth Stadium to watch the kick-off game. This Thursday, I’m planning on taking in a game with some of my friends. (Check out more game info here).

I’m also excited to try some FIFA food and drink specials!

Throughout the duration of the FIFA Women’s World Cup (June 6 – July 5), Edmonton Tourism has teamed up with some local restaurants to offer Canada / soccer-themed food and drink specials!

Some of the specials include the Canadian Burgers (maple BBQ sauce, crisply maple bacon and cehddar cheese with ketchup chips and pints of Red Canadian Beer) at Sherlock Holmes Rice Howard Way and The Rose & Crown Pub, the Ramada Edmonton’s Canadian Soccer Beef Balls, the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald’s Sinclair 12 cocktail made with Canadian Club, maple syrup and lime juice, and the Pint’s Team Canada Poutine Dog – an oversized all beef hot dog topped with Pint fries, cheese curds, beef gravy, maple infused bacon bits and crumbled ketchup chips.

You can view the whole FIFA Women’s World Cup food & drink specials menu here!

This Friday, I’m heading down to The Pint Downtown to try the Team Canada Poutine Dog! (They’ve also got an intense sounding Caesar special – the Team Canada Caesar–a traditional Caesar featuring peppered bacon, maple pancakes (yes, they are in the Caesar), and a dash of maple syrup, plus they’re serving pints of red Budweiser draft during events).

I’m also giving away two $25 Pint gift cards so anyone can go and try the Team Canada Poutine Dog from now until July 5! (I also encourage you to try some of the dishes from the other 13 Edmonton restaurants/pubs doing FIFA food specials).
