Mike and I are big fans of Original Joes. If you’ve never been, Original Joes (or ‘OJs’ as you’ll start calling it when you start going there a lot, lol) is an Alberta-based restaurant/pub (originally founded in Calgary) and today has more than 60 locations across Canada.

Usually it’s one of our go-to spots in the summer for patio drinks and food. There’s seven locations in Edmonton (and a few more surrounding Edmonton) so it’s not too hard to head to an OJs. My favourite dishes to order are generally the chili lime chicken, dragon boat lettuce wraps and wings. Mike always gets one of their burgers (which come with your choice of two sides – that’s probably one of the unique things about OJs is that you get to choose two sides with your main meals!) During the winter they have an incredible tomato soup with cheesy croutons that you MUST ORDER.

Anyway, we’ve been going for years and now I’m super excited because they’re launching their new Original Joe’s Summer Fresh menu and they’ve given me a $50 gift card to give away to a reader!

There are seven new items on the summer menu and it launches today! (May 7, 2015)

BRUSSEL SPROUTS flash fried with red pepper and chopped bacon; tossed with fresh lime juice, parmesan and chilis; garnished with lime crema and fresh cilantro.

STEAMED MUSSELS  a full pound of sustainably harvested PEI mussels, steamed in a light beer cream sauce with garlic, onion, chilis, and lemon juice. bread on the side.

SHRIMP TACOS (3) grilled flour tortillas, garlic cajun shrimp, cabbage, fresh pico de gallo, cilantro and lime crema. served with a mixed green salad.

MISO SALMON SALAD baked wild pacific salmon in a miso-sake marinade; served with mixed greens, cucumber, pea shoots, matchstick carrot, sliced avocado and cilantro in a sesame vinaigrette.

MEDITERRANEAN CHICKEN WRAP shwarama style grilled chicken breast served in a garlic naan bread with lemon feta spread, shredded lettuce, onion, tomato, banana pepper, pickle, chopped parsley and topped with tzatziki. served with two sides.
