This fall my friend Rachel and I visited the charming little town of Vermilion, Alberta, located just two hours east of Edmonton! We were on a travel assignment with ZenSeekers.
Our task: discover downtown Vermilion and share about the great shops you find along the way!
I have to say, it was a pretty easy task!
Vermilion has one of the nicest small town downtowns in Alberta.
It’s vibrant, super cute, and full of history and character!
I guest blogged about visiting Vermilion over on ZenSeekers, highlighting eight local shops and restaurants:
Below are a few photos I took from our visit to Vermilion. Be sure to check out the local shops and restaurants I mention in my ZenSeekers Travel Guide including:
- Harbrook and Paisley (shoes, outerwear, purses, accessories)
- Fresh Apparel (trendy surf, skate, lifestyle clothing)
- MACK Modern Age Clothing for Kids (clothes and accessories for kids)
- Lighten Up Therapy & Wellness Centre (energy crystals, alternative therapy books, workshops)
- Pet Boutique & Salon (pet grooming, gifts and accessories for pets and pet owners)
- Anthony’s Grill (comfort food)
- The Red Brick Cafe (coffee, tea, pastries, snacks)
- Copper Cork Distillery (vodka, gin, moonshine, tastings and tours)
The great part is this isn’t even all of the shops we visited and all of the shops in Downtown Vermilion!
There are so many spots to explore. It’s well worth planning a trip to this gem east of Edmonton.
I ended up buying a jumpsuit from Fresh Apparel (which I proceeded to change into and wear for the remainder of our shopping trip / photoshoots lol), a cat necklace from Lighten Up Therapy, earrings from MACK, a cat ring and bag from Pet Boutique & Salon and a belt from Uniquely U Styles.
The fries and lemon herb dry ribs from Anthony’s Grill are excellent, as is the iced London Fog and snickerdoodle from The Red Brick Cafe. We got a taste of the amaretto from Copper Cork Distillery as well! That should be a really popular spot. Such a lovely day!
Watch the short Facebook video interview I did with Todd Ree of Vermilion’s Copper Cork Distillery too:
And there’s even more to Vermilion than the downtown shops and restaurants, though that was our focus for this trip. Can’t wait to get back to this charming little town and explore more!!

Disclaimer: I partnered with ZenSeekers as a paid travel correspondent visiting and sharing things to do in Vermilion, Alberta. This does not impact opinions stated in the post. I found Vermilion’s Downtown to be one of the nicest small town downtowns I’ve ever experienced in Alberta. It’s super cute with lots of great shops!

It was a fun visit on your site!
I lived for a short time in Vermilion in 1940-41
Spent my 3rd birthday in the hospitable there because I had been run over by a car. ( I was more used to horse and buggies)
It was a rule that no children could visit in the hospital but the ladies from the town brought me a cake and tried to help me have a good birthday.
I grew up in Vermilion but have not been there for a few years. I left at age 16 to attend a technical high school in Edmonton to further my love of electronic technology. That was 60 years ago. I now live in Vancouver.
