Hello fellow Backstreet Boys fans!!
If you’ve landed on this post, you’ve likely heard that our favourite boyband growing up, the Backstreet Boys, do vacation concerts, and you are interested in attending. Like we did!!
In April 2024, my husband Mike and I took our baby Benjimin to Moon Palace Resorts in Cancun, Mexico for Backstreet’s Back at the Beach, the ultimate Backstreet Boys vacation experience.
I had learned about the Backstreet Boys doing vacation concerts years before (like cruises!), and had been wanting to go, but timing never seemed to work out until this year.
We made a wonderful family vacation of the experience and I wanted to share this Guide for Everything You Need To Know About Backstreet’s Back at the Beach (the Ultimate Vacation with the Backstreet Boys) to help you plan your experience and be prepared for what to expect!
In this blog guide I cover:

Everything You Need To Know About Backstreet’s Back at the Beach, the Ultimate Caribbean Vacation with the Backstreet Boys
What is Backstreet’s Back at the Beach?
Backstreet’s Back at Beach is an all-inclusive Caribbean vacation experience you can book with the Backstreet Boys!
In April 2024, the 30th anniversary of the Backstreet Boys, Backstreet’s Back at the Beach was hosted at Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, Mexico.
The all-inclusive experience features Backstreet Boys concerts, daily pool parties, activities with the band, performances from special guests and DJs, plus everything you’d expect at a Mexican all-inclusive: access to restaurants, bars, and other beach activities, and more!
The experience can be as much or as little ‘Backstreet Boys’ as you want. Since we went with our baby, I would say we were mainly there to go to the two main Backstreet Boys concerts and the rest of the time we wanted to enjoy the pool and the resort. Other people who didn’t have young babies or left their families at home attended many—or all—of the BSB at the Beach activities!
Where is Backstreet’s Back at the Beach?
In April 2024, BSB at the Beach was hosted at Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, Mexico.
At that time, we were told that Palace Resorts (the parent company to Moon Palace Resort) had signed on to host upcoming Backstreet’s Back at the Beach vacations for the next few years, so depending on when you read this blog, the next one may be happening at Moon Palace Resort OR it may take place a sister resort with the company.
Given the name of the vacation, you can expect any future Backstreet’s Back at the Beach event to be… at a beach! lol honestly, it was such a beautiful venue!!!
The massive stage was located right on the beach next to the ocean. There was a nice breeze and the temperature was quite warm (as it would be in Cancun, Mexico) so it was actually just perfect. The palm trees swayed a bit in the breeze. There were twinkly lights, pop-up bars and food stands set up on the beach not far from the stage (and remember, all food + drink is included!)
During the day, you have sprawling pool space (including a big kids pool area!) and if the BSB at the Beach event you’re looking at booking is at Moon Palace Resort, then there will be fairly sprawling grounds and tons of activities to explore too (or just sit at the pool + beach!)
When is Backstreet’s Back at the Beach?
Our Backstreet’s Back at the Beach experience took place April 2024. Officially the dates were April 18-21, 2024 (four days) but you can add a few days to the package. We did six days total!
In previous years when the Backstreet Boys had done cruise vacations, those dates varied. Some were in December, some October, some May.
The announcement for Backstreet’s Back at the Beach came June 2023, ten months before the experience took place in April 2024, so I think you can reasonably expect a similar timeline for future Backstreet’s Back at the Beach vacation experiences.
How much does Backstreet’s Back at the Beach cost?
If you stayed at the Sunrise section of Moon Palace (which we did), packages started at $2,175 USD per person. Golf course packages started at $2,490 USD per person and The Grand packages start at $2,715 USD per person. There were also villa options that ranged from $3,038-$3,763 USD per person. I’ll also share how much we paid and just know that there are cheaper options AS WELL AS pricier packages depending on the room and how many nights you choose to stay.
Our total cost for Backstreet’s Back at the Beach was $7,249 USD for two adults and one infant (ages 0-3). That was for the Sunrise Deluxe | Ocean View | South Venue Courtyard | 1 King Bed | 6-Nights (all-inclusive) and includes all of the Backstreet Boys concerts and activities.
The package also includes round-trip transfers to/from airport to resort but the package cost does not include flights! So this was definitely a pricier trip than if you were just booking a regular all-inclusive vacation to Mexico, but the increased cost does make sense because you’re adding in the Backstreet Boys concerts and activity costs.
Backstreet’s Back at the Beach does offer payment plans as well. In 2024 there was an instalment plan where deposits start at $290 USD and there are eight subsequent equal payments in the months leading up to the big vacation.
But you’re certainly not booking this experience as simply a person who wants an all-inclusive vacation in Mexico. The cost of the package is reflective of the fact that you are on vacation with the Backstreet Boys lol.
Speaking of being on vacation with the Backstreet Boys…
Do you get to meet the Backstreet’s Boy at #BSBAtTheBeach?
So officially there was no Meet & Greet with the Backstreet Boys, but unofficially, there were a TON of opportunities to get up REAL close and personal with them at a variety of Backstreet Boys member-hosted activities during the day as well as at their concerts at night.
Because your all-inclusive package pays for the concerts, and there is no assigned seating, if you REALLY want to get up close with the Backstreet Boys, and are committed to waiting in a line to get a front row or two spot, then you’re guaranteed in that sense, to ‘meet’ them. But that means committing to wait for like six+ hours in the blistering sun. Many people did this! We didn’t lol. Okay and six+ hours is actually me downplaying the wait time… lol for instance concerts started officially at 8:15 p.m. each night, there were people starting to line up at noon on concert days in order to get front row. AND in some cases, people would SKIP THE CONCERT entirely to go wait so they could get front row at the after party…
And while officially there were only two Backstreet Boys concerts, some or all of the members were also around for an opening night kick-off party, a tribute band performance, during a special guest’s show (Jason Derulo) and at the nightly after parties. The members hosted different activities during the day like a cooking class with Howie or beach volleyball with Nick, which guests get randomly drawn to participate in (and then there’s a viewing/spectator area).
So honestly it’s like you get to see/experience the Backstreet Boys in fairly close quarters at some activity each and every day of your Backstreet’s Back at the Beach package. There are many opportunities!
AND the craziest random almost-meeting for us was when we were walking back to our room after spending the morning at the pool and the Backstreet Boys were literally being driven in golf carts past us as we walked by. We waved at them and were pretty close to Howie and Kevin, lol.
It was so random, funny and cool, and so indicative of the experience—like you are really just a building over from where the Backstreet Boys are staying and performing (literally we were, of course depending on where you stay you might be a few buildings away lol).
And there was one night an informal fan area was forming behind a mini stage because people started to figure out pretty quickly where the Backstreet Boys enter areas from (lol) so I ended up being a few steps away from AJ at one point, and a few people did get to meet & greet him but that was more by chance (and also again you need to be committed to waiting in line for awhile).
I only tried to do that one night and I think I waited 2 hours and that was too much for me, I didn’t think it was really worth it but of course depending on your level of fandom and whether you brought your baby with you on the trip lol, it might be something you plan to do.
As mentioned previously, some people waited MANY hours to get front row / first entry into the big stage on concert nights. We have never been line-up and lose a vacation day people but especially not on this trip due to having our baby with us. I do think lines and front row could be doable if you had an adult group where you split up logistics so people brought food and drinks to friends in line while they waited (and also plan to bring your own shade and chair!)
And I should add that there was a casual / intimate ‘Happy Hour Meet & Greet’ that was held during this event where participants were chosen at random based on whether you booked a package in the first two weeks after packages went on sale but that is not something you can guarantee. There was someone with our same last name who was selected!! lol but it was not us.

Would you bring your family to Backstreet’s Back at the Beach?
We did go to Backstreet’s Back at the Beach as a family (two adults, one baby (infant under the age of 3), and we actually did see a bit of families at the resort during the event (the kids splash area was lively!) and Moon Palace Resorts IS a family-friendly resort (everyone under the age of 18 are free normally, but for the Backstreet Boys experience there is a cost for ages 3+), but I would say the vibes of this Backstreet Boys vacation experience are primarily adult party vibes.
I would say our experience personally would’ve been MORE about the Backstreet Boys if we hadn’t brought our baby lol there were definitely some moments I wished we could have checked out some of the daytime Backstreet Boys activities that were happening but it didn’t make sense because of our baby’s nap times and I didn’t want to go alone because the vibes didn’t feel the same without my partner. Our baby also got sick half way through the trip so it wasn’t the best experience in that sense, and I felt even guiltier if we had left him. We did alternate evenings in which one of us would go out / stay out later at the activities but again doing it solo just isn’t quite the same.
I would recommend Backstreet’s Back at the Beach more as an adult friends or partner trip versus family Mexico trip. But families / kids ARE very welcome. And I do like that and I think that’s also because the Backstreet Boys members all have families too—and some brought theirs to this!
And if you go with kids—remember to bring noise cancelling earmuffs for them!!
Are the Backstreet’s Back at the Beach performances good?!?
YES!
If you are a Backstreet Boys fan, you will love the performances.
We have actually been to the DNA World Tour previously, and really if you’ve been to any Backstreet Boys concert in the past 30 years there will be overlap / repeat of songs but this crowd is obviously all for that lol.
The ’30 for 30′ set they did was to celebrate their 30th anniversary so the 30 songs were actually voted on by fans! That was really fun and there were cute moments / stories the members shared before certain songs.
These are legit concerts—on the beach!
The stage is big, the light show is really nice, the songs are so, so good.
I ended up taking more videos than photos of the boys on stage but actually never posted a permanent-feed footage lol. I will do that and edit this post to include it!
What else should you know about Backstreet’s Back at the Beach or staying at Moon Palace Resorts in Cancun, Mexico?
Here are a few notes I had jotted down throughout the trip:
- On Arrival: When you arrive for the event there is a huge arena/Expo Centre on site that includes drinks, snacks while you wait to check in, receive your welcome tote and pick up swag. Be careful at this part of the experience as the staff try to get you to commit to checking out the sister property in exchange for more resort credits. We’ve lost precious resort time at a different all-inclusive with the lure of getting spa credits before and honestly it’s not worth it lol.
- You choose the BSB activity levels: There are activities happening at Backstreet’s Back at the Beach throughout the day and at night! You can do as much or as little as you want including themed events (plan to bring white clothes for the White Party and pajamas for the PJ Party!)
- A lot of fans: We were told Backstreet’s Back at the Beach sold about 2,500 people or reservations, I can’t recall which one lol. But it was a lot of people and they came from all around the world. We also learned at some of the informal Backstreet Boys activities we attended that some people have seen to the Backstreet Boys many, many times. I technically also have been to a lot of Backstreet Boys concerts (we’ve gone twice to see them in Vegas too as well as a few times they’ve toured to our city), but our eyes widened a bit in realization here that some people have been seeing Backstreet Boys live in some capacity almost every year of their lives.
- On eating at the resort: Moon Palace Resorts offers lots of excellent food! We really enjoyed every restaurant we tried and there was lots of variety. There is also 24-hour room service but depending on the timing your options may be limited. Many dinner spots at the resort don’t open until 6 p.m. unless you make a reservation at the fancier places. Some places are also a bit of a trek / golf cart to get to because of how massive this resort is which we didn’t love lol. And some places have rules like you need to not be wearing beach clothing or sandals / flip flops which we didn’t love lol. But overall we really enjoyed our eating at Moon Palace Resorts!
- On our resort room: Our room was located in the corner of the property near the beach but that means we did not get a hammock on our balcony. Every room at Moon Palace Resorts has either a balcony or a patio but not everyone gets a hammock lol. Ben loved walking out and looking out on the balcony every day! We are big fans of booking balcony rooms on our vacations.
- Excellent resort service: We received such great service from everyone at the resort! And although tip is included in your resort fee it is understood that people will tip in American or pesos so do incorporate that into your budgeting.
- Add-ons: We decided to hire a Moon Palace Resorts professional photographer to capture some professional images of our baby Benjimin’s first resort and Backstreet Boys vacation experience (especially since he was always sleeping when the event photographers were around lol).
Would we go again? Would we recommend Backstreet’s Back at the Beach?
Overall, we had an amazing experience at Backstreet’s Back at the Beach in April 2024.
The biggest pro: how many Backstreet Boys activities and opportunities to see them there are.
The biggest con: the price! It is not a cheap experience.
I think the price point means unfortunately a lot of fans won’t be able to go to a Backstreet’s Back at the Beach experience. I would say it really depends on how hardcore a fan you are whether booking this vacation is worth the money. Being at this experience made me realize I am not the hardest-core of a fan lol but also I was juggling being a mother lol and that obviously takes priority, so we didn’t really participate in as MUCH Backstreet Boys activities as I would have personally liked, but also I didn’t love that if you really wanted to get up close at different activities you would need to wait in line for hours. On an all-inclusive Mexico vacation I don’t necessarily want to lose precious poolside hours waiting. But the people who did wait most certainly got some wild experiences with the Backstreet Boys—they were SUPER engaging with all of the front row audience at all of the shows and activities.
For us, this trip ended up being more about us doing a nice Mexico all-inclusive resort vacation with a smattering of Backstreet Boys concerts and experiences. For others, the trip is Backstreet Boys first, foremost and the core of the whole experience.
We would’ve been able to get a much more affordable all-inclusive Mexico resort trip had the Backstreet Boys not been included lol. But if the point is to do an unforgettable trip with and all about the Backstreet Boys, then wow this was that!!
If you wanted to wait and compare prices, I imagine the Backstreet Boys would go back to offering their cruise concert experiences too—those packages, according to the Internet, were more affordable than the Backstreet’s Back at the Beach experience. And I wonder if they would factor in feedback from this experience and lower prices in the future? Or maybe not because obviously this was a very well-attended event.
