2015 Halloween Events List last updated: October 13, 2015
Halloween is one of my favourite “holidays” of the year. I just love getting into the spooky spirit! There’s always lots of great events and activities going around for the occasion in and around the Edmonton area so it can be hard to decide which one(s) to do. As I do with New Year’s and Valentine’s events, this year I thought I’d put together an event listing for Halloween!
This list will be updated as I find new events and as event information becomes available. Keep checking back for updates – usually more events are announced closer to the date.

2015 Halloween Events in Edmonton
Deadmonton Haunted House
Date: Thurs – Sundays throughout October (times start at 7 p.m.)
Location: Deadmonton House 10233 Jasper Avenue (Old Paramount Theatre)
Cost: Ranges from $20-$40 depending on if you go during Halloween Weekend or get Speed Passes.
Details: The legend of the Williams family farm is being turned into a horror film. The film will premier at the local abandoned theatre. Some people in the community warn about profiting off of others misfortunes. As every day passes, we’re getting closer the premier of the film. The rumblings get louder. You can see people running down the street in a panic yelling, ‘The Curse! The Curse! The Curse of the Williams farm!’

Frankenstein Radio Show at Fort Edmonton Park
Date: Oct. 1 – 4 at 8 p.m.
Location: Capitol Theatre at Fort Edmonton Park
Cost: $22 per person in advance, $25 at the door
Details: Join us for a classic live radio program based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Experience vintage horror, Fort Edmonton style. The Capitol Theatre brings to the stage this unique adaptation with a dollop of humour and comic sensibilities to this classic story. Guaranteed to keep you in “stitches.”

Edmonton Zombie Walk
Date: Oct. 2 7:30 p.m. or 9 p.m.
Location: Churchill Square 7:30 p.m. or Alberta Legislature 9 p.m.
Cost: Free but bring food bank donation
Details: Come down to Churchill Square on Friday October 2 for Edmonton’s annual zombie walk! (Families/kids welcome). Dress up!

Haunted Pumpkin Festival
Date: Every weekend Oct. 3 through Nov. 1
Location: Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm (56311 Lily Lake Rd, Bon Accord, AB)
Cost: $14.30 per person (weekend) – discounts for ‘family of’ packages
Details: Come to The Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, which attracts families from across the nation to Edmonton’s countryside. An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this charming month-long Halloween festival is an annual tradition. There are over 50 family friendly activities to enjoy at the farm. From shootin’ pumpkins out of a cannon, to screaming through a haunted house, to creeping through a corn maze…in short, this might be the most unusual festival you’ll experience this year!

Zed Haunted House (Red Deer)
Date: Oct. 16 to Oct. 31 (daily) 6 – 10 p.m.
Location: 6833 66 Street, Red Deer
Cost: $15 per person (at the door) – some discounts and packages if bought online
Details: Central Alberta’s most fatal attraction! Our Haunted House is produced by, and all funds raised go to support, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Red Deer and District.

The Dead Landz Full Immersion Zombie Experience
Date: Oct. 17 – 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. (or half day 5 – 10 p.m.)
Location: Silver Creek Paintball, New Norway, Alberta
Cost: $99 per person (evening only), $189 per person (full day), $25 weekend camping pass
Details: The Dead Landz is a “live action” zombie apocalypse simulation. Imagine putting yourself into the world of “The Walking Dead” but with zombie actors and fake weapons (just so no one dies for real). The event takes place on a large scale private property that can accommodate hundreds of players and zombies at a time. The goal of the game is to either “escape” from the venue, or to simply survive until the end. It is completely up to the player. You will enter the venue with nothing but the clothes on your back, and will search for water, food, supplies, and weapons needed to survive the day. Once you enter the venue, you will Hide, Run, Fight, and Survive against a horde of the undead, other survivors, forces of evil, and nature.

Spooktacular: Grave Discoveries at Fort Edmonton Park
Date: Family Friendly – Oct. 23 & 24. Adults Only – Oct. 30
Location: Fort Edmonton Park
Cost: $22 per person general admission, up to $46 for special packages

School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Date: Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: University of Alberta
Cost: Free
Details: Come out on Saturday October 24th to witness magic unfold in the form of science! Classes offered this year include Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Muggle Studdies, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts and many more! Let’s Talk Science has organized a series of magic-themed hands-on science activities for children ages 7 – 12 to participate in, but everyone of all ages is welcome to attend.

Boo-tanical Bash at the Muttart Conservatory

Edmonton Ghost Tours

Details: Typically the Edmonton Ghost Tours organization will put on ghost tours throughout October for Halloween. Their website hasn’t been updated for 2015 yet but keep checking to see what the dates will be. The tours are typically good for all ages – and storytellers will talk about reported ghosts, hauntings, murders, and mysteries of buildings, houses, and shops you pass along.

Halloween at Edmonton Escape Rooms

Scary Nasty: A Halloween Improv Special at Fort Edmonton Park

Featuring performers from the Die-Nasty improv troupe and directed by Dana Andersen. Visit haunted spots in Edmonton (self-guided)

Details: Edmonton has a rich history when it comes to spooky haunts. Some of the city’s oldest schools, hospitals and hotels have some of the spookiest stories. Go on a scary, self-guided tour of places like the Edmonton general Hospital, La Boheme Restaurant Bed and Breakfast, Concordia University College, the Walterdale Playhouse, Charles Camsell Hospital, and more.

The 23rd Annual Halloween Howler
Date: Oct. 30
Location: Shaw Conference Centre
Cost: $59.95 (+ service charges) per person
Details: It’s the 23rd Annual Halloween Howler featuring Godsmack, Buckcherry, The Wild! and Striker. $5000 for Best Costume and an Arctic Cat 400 Quad from A.S.E. Motorsports plus thousands of dollars in additional costume prizes ($3,000 for 2nd, $1,000 for 3rd) and DJ Harman B spinning tunes.

Mini Monster Bash (Parkland County)

Location: Heritage Park Pavilion (5100 41 Ave. Stony Plain, Alberta)
Cost: Free (bring an item for the Parkland Food Bank)
Details: The City of Spruce Grove, the Town of Stony Plain and Parkland County are pleased to present the annual Mini Monster Bash celebration! Join us for a variety of spooktacular Halloween activities designed for mini monsters and their families. Crafts and activities are typically designed for children eight years of age and under, but older children are also welcome. Children will also receive a special glow-in-the-dark bag they can use when they go trick-or-treating, but limited quantities are available, so first come, first served. Children are invited to dress in their mini monster best! Please dress for the weather in case of lineups outside the Pavilion.

Haunted Halloween Gala at the Fairmont Banff Springs

Cost: Rates for the Haunted Gala guestroom package start from $598 per night.
Details: This Halloween, spend the night in one of Alberta’s most historic hotels and see for yourself if the rumours of its haunting are true.
