You’ve probably heard of the concept of “unboxing” right?
Unboxing videos are all over YouTube – it’s where people film themselves opening up the boxes of their purchases for the first time and doing first impression reviews of the products inside.
I’ve viewed my fair share of unboxing videos in the past, so when Hotels.com reached out to see if I’d ever heard of “unrooming” and whether I’d be interested in participating in their new campaign, I was pretty interested!
Unrooming is inspired by the concept of unboxing, and basically asks you to shoot and share a quick video of your first impression evaluation of a hotel room you’re staying at.
Hotels.com has set up a section on their site where users can upload their own #UnroomingCA video reviews and by sharing your unrooming video on social media (hashtag #unroomingca) and uploading onto their website, you’re entered for a chance to win a $200 Hotels.com gift card!
It’s pretty quick, simple, and fun, and is a nice alternative to your typical hotel review.

Beyond the first impressions, I’d like to add that the bathroom at Hotel Blackfoot really is nice. Closer inspection revealed the shower head was a nice waterfall/mist shower and the shampoo and conditioner came in handy dispensers on the shower wall. The taps and counter felt really new, and we were really stocked with towels.
I also want to stress the importance of a fridge in a hotel room. We often eat a lot on vacation, and to help maximize the amount of food we can eat, being able to bring back leftovers to the hotel room and put into a fridge is key for that.
Staff was super friendly at Hotel Blackfoot and we even tried their Sunday brunch buffet, which was really good with lots of variety. They are also in the same building as The Laugh Shop, so if you stay here – plan to take in a comedy show too. I’d definitely recommend the Hotel Blackfoot!

Disclaimer: Hotels.com partnered with me to participate in their #UnRoomingCA campaign. My stay at the Hotel Blackfoot was complimentary in exchange for an UnRoomingCA video review. This has no impact on opinions stated in this post (I’m always honest – and the bathroom especially at Hotel Blackfoot was awesome!)

Some of my favourite hotel features are good pillows, complimentary wifi and water bottles! Following you and hotels.com on Twitter and tweeted!
My absolute must-haves are cribs/playpens that are complimentary, a fridge in the room, and an abundance of towels! Travelling with a toddler is an adventure in itself – if my hotel doesn’t provide what I need to feel at home, it throws the whole vacation off. I follow @lindork and @hotelsdotcom already, and tweeted about this great contest @flatoutwhimsy.
I love having good toiletries so I don’t have to bring my own shampoo/conditioner #lazy, plugins on the base of lamps by the bed, free wifi and of course a comfy bed! When I’m on the road for work after a few months I get a little picky haha!
I follow you and hotels.com and I tweeted!
My favourite parts of a hotel room are having a big comfy bed, and also a clean washroom is a must. i completed all your entries!
I love when a hotel has shampoo/conditioner/soap that’s nicer than the stuff I brought with me. i also love when they have towel that are big and thick. I’ve been to so many hotels with bath towels the size of my hand towels at home. And it’s nice when they have a loveseat or sofa so there’s somewhere comfy to sit that isn’t the bed.

I’m pretty easy when it comes to hotels and as long as it’s clean and there’s free wifi, I’m happy. A refrigerator is nice to have if I’m staying more than a couple days but for an overnight stay isn’t a deal breaker for me. And if the hotel has complimentary breakfast, that’s convenient and appreciated, but if it doesn’t, no big deal as that just means one last opportunity to try another place in town :)

I always go for a king size bed at a hotel if possible, feels fancy since we have a queen at home. I agree that having a fridge is a great perk; nice to be able to store drinks, snacks and even a quick breakfast to save some money. I like having free wifi in my hotel room. I like when hotels have amenities like steam room, gym, pool, and a library of free books to borrow which is great when traveling with kids.

Here’s my tweet! https://twitter.com/MsEltonJohn/status/775409088674934784 Must haves are: free wifi, and the option for room service breakfast. I also like a hair dryer in the bathroom- hate having to pack everything I own for a quick getaway.
I always look for free parking and free wifi!! Free breakfast sure is a nice perk too! ;) I followed both pages on Twitter and tweeted the message!
My must-have hotel features are free wifi and coffee/tea makers in the room. Bonus marks when they offer a turndown service and leave a little treat or bottle of water on the pillow…. really makes it feel like a special occasion! ;) Thanks for the fabulous giveaway, would be thrilled to win!!
Completed ALL entries, fingers crossed! :D
My must-have is clean white sheets – if I see those brown fleece or plastic floral covers in any pictures, I’m OUT!
I love having a free wifi option at the hotels that I stay at. Traveling and working makes it difficult to do when I always need to pay additional wifi fees.

completed all steps. followed both accts and tweeted
A big comfy bed and it has to *feel* super clean – I’ve a thing against those old-fashioned patterned bedspreads (gives me the willies, lol) so if they have crisp white linens, I’m in heaven. :)
Did all the tasks!
My favourite hotel features are free wifi, jacuzzi tub (when indulging), room service variety, and a nice gym! I have stayed in my share of hotels under many circumstances so I love scoping out new ones

I have to admit, I love it when my hotel room has a big-screen TV! We don’t have a television in our bedroom at home, so it always feels like a treat to watch some TV in bed! :)
