Last month I was invited to attend the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald’s Festive Delight (#MACFestive) holiday menu tasting! I went with my food loving friend Teresa, and we got a chance to sample a bunch of dishes from Chef Serge Jost. Jost has been a chef with the Fairmont brand for 14 years but only recently joined Fairmont Hotel MacDonald in August.

No visit to the Fairmont is complete without a hug and picture with Smudge, the hotel’s dog ambassador. Smudge is such a cutie! But certainly did not look too happy that she had to ‘work’ overtime that night, lol.

The Fairmont is also featuring their signature, massive gingerbread hotel replica in the lobby. Check out how many ingredients & manpower goes into making it here! (10 kg of icing sugar, 12 kg of brown sugar, etc.)

All of the items we tried are available on the menus of the lounge and restaurant at the Fairmont. We tried quinoa blinis with steelhead salmon and dill, venison carpaccio, lobster bisque, foie gras, crab cake sliders, gnocchi, and eggnog creme brulee.

My favourites were the foie gras, venison, and the gnocchi. The lobster bisque was also tasty! There was also a festive, delicious drink – the Pomegranate Poinsettia. I got the non-alcohol version but Teresa captured the alcoholic version recipe on her Instagram! Both versions – very good!

Overall it was a great night with great company (thanks Teresa) and an even better (sorry Teresa) food! (lol just kidding, Teresa you are fantastic, fantastic company!!) If you get a chance, I definitely recommend having some holiday fun & feast at the Fairmont!

They’ve also just released dates & times for their festive Yuletide Weekday Brunches!

And be sure to hi to Smudge for me. ;)

Linda
