A couple of weeks ago, I went to the Old Spaghetti Factory downtown (at 10220 103 Street) for my friend Brandi’s birthday!
I’ve only been to the Old Spaghetti factory a handful of times over the years, and always at West Edmonton Mall so I was looking forward to checking out the downtown spot, which is on the same lovely strip as Sabor/Urbano/Bodega.

The Old Spaghetti Factory actually invited me and Mike to come and try their dinner but Mike was out of town, and Brandi was trying to decide where to go for her birthday, so I suggested we do the Old Spaghetti Factory.
She excitedly agreed – noting that their spumoni ice cream is amazing (you’ll see me write that a lot throughout this post lol) and would be perfect for her birthday!

Dine in the old Edmonton street car inside the Old Spaghetti Factory!
The Old Spaghetti Factory downtown is gigantic, and situated inside a historic downtown Edmonton building – what used to be the Hudson’s Bay Company reserve in 1879.
The interior proudly features iron, glass, and wood columns from original Edmonton homes and churches.
You can also dine inside an original Edmonton streetcar (Streetcar No.15) that used to operate in the very early 1900s!

What I always seem to forget about the Old Spaghetti Factory is how damn good a meal deal they offer.
The restaurant has an ‘It’s All Included!’ starter, main, and dessert offering at really affordable prices.
All entrees come with your choice of salad or Minestrone soup, tea/coffee, spumoni ice cream dessert, and of course starter bread (with delicious, whipped garlic butter).
If you’re sticking with their spaghetti options (of which there are many), you’re basically looking at a three-course meal for less than $15.
Their most expensive entree (but remember, it’s entree, appetizer, and spumoni ice cream dessert) is just $20.

The Old Spaghetti Factory pitches itself as being great for group gatherings and a great spot for families – which makes total sense because it’s so affordable.
Our whole table thoroughly enjoyed our food and service!
There’s great variety/options so really should be something to satisfy everyone. At our table we ordered:
- Cajun Chicken Alfredo (broiled, marinated chicken with fettuccine, $17.35)
- Fettuccine Con Pollo (sautéed chicken and mushrooms in a tangy white sauce, slowly baked with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, $15.55)
- New York Steak (8 oz. centre cut New York steak served with sautéed mushrooms and spaghetti with marinara sauce or fries, $19.35 + add skewer of prawns for $2.95)
- and my dish: Seafood Fettuccine (fettuccine noodles, topped with sautéed bay scallops, prawns, and mushrooms, in a garlic marinara or Alfredo sauce OR I got the rose sauce, $15.25)

I love their Seafood Fettuccine (or Linguine) and also appreciated how our server Michael helped me decide what version/sauce to try.
It’s so tasty, and you get such a great portion for just $15 – (for a seafood dish?) can’t be beat!
The delicious spumoni ice cream – an Old Spaghetti Factory classic.
Of course, no meal at the Old Spaghetti Factory is complete without a scoop of their famous Spumoni ice cream – a chocolate, vanilla, and green pistachio combination that for many – draws a deep and instant connection to this restaurant.
A few years ago when Mike and I first tried the Old Spaghetti Factory we were delighted with the Spumoni ice cream and went on a search to find something similar for home.
We found something sort of similar, but it also featured these gross jelly pieces – much disappointment ensued, lol.
It hadn’t occurred to us that we could just buy the best Spumoni ice cream from the Old Spaghetti Factory!
They do sell it in 11.4L take-home containers at $50 – which is well, really not the best deal, but hey, they’d rather you come in and dine, and get your Spumoni fix at the end of your meal. That works for me!

The whole group had nothing but good things to say about our meals at the Old Spaghetti Factory and Brandi really enjoyed her birthday dinner!
The Old Spaghetti Factory Downtown is comfortable, casual, with great food and the prices are just so reasonable.
I really don’t know why I don’t consider it as an option for our meals out more often – especially if we’re trying to save some money but still have a nice dinner out. It’s an obvious, great option for families wanting a good meal for a low price too.
This particular location also recently participated in Downtown Dining Week, and their pairings and pricing went over so well, they’re extending a similar concept into April! See their SPAG-tastic April menu here.

I want to try the Seafood Linguine Marinara, Tomato Basil Flatbread with Goatcheese, and I swear I saw a picture of Cheesecake on their facebook page! Also, you may want to let them know that their online pdf menu is upside down on the last page, and part of the second last page.
Fettuccine for sure. I never order anything else except the mizithra and browned butter but the other dishes look yummy.

I’m a sucker for the classics and do spaghetti with half bolognese and half cream sauce. That’s my go to when trying to fill-up.
I’d like to try from their lunch menu Clam Chowder soup along with their lunch spaghetti with meat sauce.
