We love Christmas! And so do our pets. Do your pets get into the holiday spirit?
Each year we do a holiday photo with our fur babies – it’s really quite adorable. It started with Thor, and it’s been so heartwarming adding more pets to the photo each Christmas. Our parents always laugh when we tell them we’re headed out to take our family Christmas photo.
Understandably, getting Thor and Loki into it is more challenging than getting Olive (and now Artie) but once a year we give it a shot!
Our 2015 Family/Pet Photo with Santa!
It’s been an interesting challenge over the years to decorate our home for Christmas when most of our animals love knocking down ornaments from the tree, or chewing the wrapping off of presents.
Artie’s going through a pretty bad chewing phase right now so we’re not sure how much decor we’ll be able to put out this year, but decor or not – picking out the perfect gifts for our fur babies is high on our Christmas to-do list!
When we only had Thor, she would get gifts and stocking stuffers. We shifted to doing just Christmas stockings for everyone once we added Loki and Olive to the family, though have been known to walk out of PetSmart during the holiday season with some spontaneous, bigger items for our babes.
Of course, the beauty of getting gifts for your pets is they’re just overjoyed at any little thing – you don’t need to break the bank for pet gifts. Stockings stuffed with treats is always a Christmas winner and heck, the gift might not cost anything at all! Your time. Playtime. Extra cuddles. This year I could see a ‘gift’ for Artie being just spending time out in the river valley playing! We rarely have time to take him out there but when we go he always has so much fun!

Top 5 Gifts on my Pets’ Holiday Wish List!
The U-Pet Cat Backpack.
How cool is this? Ever since I saw the U-Pet backpack (a.k.a. the cat astronaut backpack) posted on Instagram last year, I’ve wanted to get it.
We’ve been trying to train Thor and Loki to get into bags and backpacks for quite some time (trying but failing horribly). I think this backpack would really help with our progress! I know they both have been getting more of an itch to go outside over the years so something like this would be a great way for them to see more of the outside world but in a safe way.
Pet Cube Camera.
Mike recently bought a camera that lets us see what the dogs are up to (mostly just being really bad, sitting on the living room table and making a mess lol) but I really wanted him to get one that was interactive – that would let us play with them from our phones, and also let us to talk to them too!
The Petcube looks like the one to get – it’s the best-selling Wi-Fi pet camera on the market that’s both a camera and an interactive laser. I also wouldn’t mind the PlayDate – camera that is also a ball that can roll around your house.
Purina Beggin’ Strips, DentaLife Chews, Pull ‘N Play Treats.
Thor, Loki, Olive and Artie are all quite familiar with these three treats – Purina’s Beggin’ Strips, Purina DentaLife Chews, and Friskies Pull ‘N Play. I know they’ll go crazy when they pull these out of their Christmas stockings!
Cat Wall Shelves like this set from HUVE (Etsy).
I’ve wanted to get Thor and Loki some cool wall shelves for a long time. There’s a natural gap between two of the cabinets in our kitchen that is really begging for some type of wall / hammock too! This set of 3 wall shelves from HUVE on Etsy is a nice design and not too expensive. There are some that are pretty pricy… wish I was craftier so I could just make my own!
I think Olive and Artie (particularly Artie) could really benefit from doggy daycare!
Olive is pretty chill at this point and can sleep forever throughout the day, but we know Artie gets really bored most days so I think socializing and blowing off steam at a dog daycare would be awesome for him.
Hoping we can make this gift work for him for the new year!
