Photo of the Day: Thursday, May 24, 2012

Today’s Photo of the Day shows a very long line up for The Act Food Truck at What the Truck’s Truck Stop in Old Strathcona today. It was crazy busy! There’s lots of people supporting the food truck biz in the city, which is great to see.

Long line ups at What the Truck Truck Stop!

Unfortunately there’s an obvious downside to that massive showing… everything selling out!

Our friend Logan was waiting for a “PB&J Burger – beef patty, cheddar cheese, bacon jam, and peanut butter.” Unfortunately they became sold out so all that was left was the beef patty, cheese and peanut butter. He decide not to get it because Mike and I were waiting for the “Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork – with cajun coleslaw and chipotle raspberry barbecue sauce,” “Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich,” and “Bacon Bomb – with coleslaw, caramalized onions and barbecue sauce” and all three of those became sold out while we were in line as well.

We weren’t really interested in the dessert/carnival items so we didn’t try to wait in line for anything else. Sigh. We ran into my friend Jenn there too who had been waiting in line for a half hour before we had even gotten there and all the food she wanted became sold out when she was just steps away from the front of the line! This is the second time I’ve tried attending What the Truck’s May Truck Stops and the food I wanted became sold out. :( It’s very disappointing. We were there around 6:30 p.m. It starts at 5 p.m. It sells out too fast! (And is hard to get to right at 5 p.m. when we work typically till 5, 6 or even 7 p.m. most days). :'(

I had been debating bringing along my out-of-town uncle to this but he ended up spending time with my dad tonight anyway, which is a good thing because I wouldn’t have wanted him to have to leave empty-handed like we did!
