I’m competing in the Edmonton Home + Garden Show #PalletChallenge in support of Ronald McDonald House!

I have always loved and been impressed with Do-it-Yourself projects. But have I ever done many of my own? Nope!

I find my ‘craftiness’ and creativity typically centres around online projects. Physical cutting, gluing, assembling was never quite my forte.

But boy, was I ever thrilled, excited, nervous, and honoured – to be asked by Jenny Adams (@JennyJennyAdams of The Adams Agency) – to take part in a ‘Pallet Challenge’ for the Edmonton Home + Garden Show, with proceeds going to support The Ronald McDonald House!!!

Now when Jenny told me about the challenge, I had to stop her and ask, ‘what’s a pallet?’ Lol. Well if you don’t know – pallets are wooden shipping crates that oftentimes just get chucked out. But there’s a big DIY pallet trend happening around the world right now, and all it apparently takes is creativity, determination and a hammer? sander? wood chipper? to tweak the pallets into something truly creative and wonderful! Head to Pinterest and see for yourself!

Book cases, beds, couches, tables, shelves, ART!

Some examples I’ve been eye-ing:

I’ve got 19 days to complete my project. My creation will go on display with other creations from the likes of @ZoomJer, @ErinIsfeldCTV, @JLynNye, @CrashandMars, @JonnySullivan82 – at the Edmonton Home & Garden Show March 21-24.

Show-goers will have a chance to bid on their favourite creation in a silent auction and 100% of money raised will be donated to The Ronald McDonald House, helping families of critically ill kids. Such a great cause!!

I will be sure to document my attempt at being IRL-crafty. :) I’m actually completely frightened. Mike was going to help me with a lot of it but he’ll be out of town for most of the beginning of March sooo… This will be interesting to say the least.

Be sure to head to the show and BID BID BID on my creation though! :)
