Happy New Year!

Mike and I on New Year's Eve!

Mike and I on New Year’s Eve!

Happy New Year everyone!! We had a nice holiday (five days off in a row during Christmastime, New Year’s Day off) and now I’m back with a vengeance (hopefully) on a mission to blog more consistently! This will include (hopefully) consistent Clicks of the Week, along with more regular restaurant reviews, posts about mine & Mike’s food cooking/baking adventures, and just general posts on life. We’ll start off with a short update on our New Year’s Eve!

I really wanted to go to a NON-bar/club party on New Year’s Eve (hence the list of NYE events taking place in Edmonton that I compiled) but everything that wasn’t in a bar or a club cost SO much money… so in the end On the Rocks’ New Year’s Eve bash with ‘The Boom Booms’ seemed like the best option for our dollar. It included a three-course dinner (that was actually quite tasty! Lobster bisque, prime rib and veggies, cheesecake) plus live entertainment from a Vancouver-based band for $50 (just the ‘party’ tickets cost $25). We went with Mike’s sister Amanda and her boyfriend George. George’s sister Katie and her friends also showed up closer to midnight.

The biggest surprise of the night was discovering that actor/comedian Seth Rogen was also at On The Rocks!!! Not kidding.

This was my big scoop for the night (lol).

We confirmed with an On the Rocks server that yes, Seth Rogen, known for his roles in Knocked Up, Pineapple Express and The Green Hornet to name a few – was in the building for New Year’s Eve.

Further Twitter and Instagram investigation revealed that Seth had been in town over the weekend for a wedding! I also deduced that the Vancouver-born actor must know/be supporting The Boom Booms band who are also from Vancouver but that was never confirmed by anyone.

There was also further confirmation when On the Rocks retweeted all of my Seth Rogen-related tweets and then a photo of Seth with an On the Rocks manager was posted the next morning:

All in all it was a fun, random celebrity sighting that added to the evening. :)

I got to have a New Year’s kiss from Mike (^_^) and then (because we are old souls) we headed home immediately after the clock hit midnight to hit the hay.

I have been in ‘holiday mode’ for awhile (my Edmonton Sun column was on hiatus because Christmas Day and New Year’s Day both fell on Tuesdays) but now I’m back and ready to be productive!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday and I’m looking forward to what 2013 brings! (Namely – my wedding!!!)

Linda
