Mayor's Celebration of the Arts

I’m a big fan of the Edmonton food scene (obviously!) but I also love all the different #YEGarts, events, activities and what artists are doing in this great city.

Most recently, Mike and I purchased pieces from Edmonton artist Jason Blower!

New home decor from local artist Jason Blower!

I’ve also got my eye on Gloria Ho Illustration’s cat watercolours (which will also be sold at this year’s Edmonton International Cat Festival!)

There’s so many great artists here – from musicians to actors, artists like the two I just listed, writers, and more. And some of those incredibly talented artists will be honoured at the 28th Annual Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts taking place this coming Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Winspear Centre.

The annual celebration, which showcases the city’s vibrant arts and culture community, is a night of awards, performances, and tasty appetizers (if you’re still thinking about food like I always am ;)) Proceeds from the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts go to support the Professional Arts Coalition of Edmonton! There’s a lot of incredible artists nominated this year (check out the list of nominees here). It was at the 2013 celebration when I was first exposed to singer Nuella Charles (what a voice!!) and there’s sure to be some fantastic performances at this year’s event.

Unfortunately this year’s celebration is on the same day as Mike’s birthday so we already had conflicting plans but I am excited that I’ve been given the opportunity to give away two pairs of tickets to the 28th Annual Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts to readers/followers!

And as a bonus: if you are not randomly selected to win the tickets to this wonderful event, I also have a 2 for 1 ticket price promo code to offer as well!

  5. I love everything about Edmonton’s art community! It is incredibly supportive, loving, and accepting, and full of crazy talented and passionate people. Most of all, I love how the perfect storm of a community supportive of art and people passionate about their crafts results in a culture that is always pushing me to be better, work harder, land love more. Edmonton makes me a better writer, poet, and, I like to think, person in general.

  6. I love Concrete Theatre for bringing the arts into so many schools exposing many kids to theatre who would not otherwise have the opportunity!

  7. I am a huge fan of Edmonton photographer Donna-Lynn Photography. Her high fashion photos are well styled, uniquely designed and outstandingly beautiful.

  8. I love that talented performers come here from all over the world, to play a concert in a city they’ve never heard of, and time after time, they tell the local audience listening to them at our Winspear Centre what an incredible privilege it is for them as musicians to be able to come and play in such a spectacular venue.

  9. My daughter is a art student at Victoria School of the Arts. She is an up incoming artist in Edmonton! The city does such an amazing job of fostering tallent in the youth.
