Giveaway: Tickets to the Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree!

The Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree is an annual holiday tradition that helps Edmontonians in need!

The Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree runs Dec. 19-22 and is an annual holiday tradition that helps Edmontonians in need!

Imagine a 35-foot Christmas tree on stage complete with ornaments, lights, and… 150 singers, accompanied by a live orchestra! This is the first thing you think of when you hear The Singing Christmas Tree. It’s our city’s most spectacular Christmas show, a heartwarming, annual tradition for thousands of families.

From the website: Every year, The Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree Foundation donates all net proceeds to local charities, organizations and children in need. In addition to working with established local and global non-profits, the Foundation also supports individual causes throughout the City as a way of bringing Christmas year round to children in need through gifts, food and music education.

This year’s show runs Dec. 19-22.

I attended the show for the first time last year and was truly blown away. These singers are so talented. The stories are so inspirational. It’s incredibly festive and you get warm fuzzies knowing you’re supporting fantastic causes helping those in need (this year proceeds from the show go to support Santa’s Anonymous and the Christmas Bureau).

So let’s make the Singing Christmas Tree a part of your holiday tradition! I’m so happy to help spread the word about this fantastic event – I’m giving away two pairs of tickets for opening night!

Our Christmas eve family’s traditions are to attend church’s service; have our traditional cultural ethnic dinner; then reflect on the blessings we receive throughout the year and close in prayer. Just before midnight, we cut a cake on behalf of my dad’s birthday (time when he was born). My dad lives overseas, and this gives our family an opportunity to feel close to him. My son loves opening some presents right after before he goes to sleep.

Mimosa’s in bed on Christmas Morning while opening our Christmas stockings. Although it’s a tradition we started shortly after we became adults, it’s still an awesome one.

One of my favourite traditions is when my husband reads ’twas the night before Christmas’ to me on Christmas Eve. My mom used to do it when we were kids and when he found out I missed it, he started doing it. :)

Because we have no family around, we started a Boxing Day bash for all of the friends we have made since we moved to Alberta What started as an appetizer and wine evening for a few people has grown into a full blown party all night long extravaganza. When we thought maybe we would go away for Christmas this year the look of horror and the “you aren’t doing Boxing Day ??!'”comments were enough to convince us to cherish the tradition and be home with our new family of friends.

My favourite Christmas tradition is writing Thank You letters to my close family members and putting them on a Christmas tree. After all presents are open, people get their Thank you letters that they read in silence and it usually puts a smile on their face.

We are celebrating a birthday, so we bake a birthday cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. We live on a farm, and often go carolling around the neighbourhood. Other fond memories are the smells and sounds….Christmas baking, the turkey cooking and carols…a most special time of the year! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
