Chef Lynn Crawford is the 2014 NAIT Chef in Residence! I’m giving away a pair of tickets to ‘Lunch with Lynn.’

Each year, NAIT welcomes one high-profile Canadian chef into their week-long Chef in Residence program. The program started in 2009 with chef Rob Feenie, and has continued to bring in incredibly talented, big name chefs over the years, including David Adjey, Susur Lee, Massimo Capra and Chris Cosentino have also all taken up residency in NAIT’s School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts!

This year, the 2014 Chef in Residence is the amazing, celebrity chef Lynn Crawford!

With the help of NAIT students, Chef Lynn Crawford will prepare a 3-course meal on March 13, 2014.

With the help of NAIT students, Chef Lynn Crawford will prepare a 3-course meal on March 13, 2014.

Crawford will spend March 10-14 working directly with lucky NAIT students.

“I’m honoured to be part of the Hokanson Chef in Residence program and spend a week working directly with NAIT students and learning from the experience,” Crawford says. “I look forward to sharing my experiences and philosophies with these up-and-coming chefs.”

Crawford was the first female Canadian invited to participate in the Food Network’s Iron Chef America. This year the battle continued as she competes on Top Chef Masters Season Five and she is one of the judges on Chopped Canada. She’s also starred in the Food Network show Pitchin’ In.

As part of the week-long residency, Crawford will prepare a three-course meal with NAIT students on March 13 called ‘Lunch with Lynn!’ And I’m very happy to say I’ve got tickets to give away for the exclusive (and sure to be delicious) luncheon!

I love watching Chef Lynn in her show Pitchin’ In! It’s cool to see her put herself into various situations that are out of her comfort zone! Every time she cooks a meal for a group on the show, it makes my mouth water & I wish I could try her food!

  • Maki says:

I used to laugh hysterically during Pitchin In and always wished I could try her food like the folks in the episodes. I would love tickets as I have a birthday around that time!

  • Doris says:

Followed NAIT on Twitter (@jetlaggedhungry). I love that the NAIT program offers so much for their culinary students (Ernest is a great example) and offers courses for the average person to increase their culinary skills with their Kitchen Skills courses.

  • Stacey says:

Strong, successful female chef. So few out there. Would love to meet her….

  • You always have the best contests, Linda! ;)

I have a very soft spot for the culinary program at NAIT because of its amazing reputation. One of my friends, Dave, is a recent graduate, and he’s worked at some of the top restaurants in the world. I’m so proud of him. We’re so lucky to have such a great program here in Edmonton.

  • Chelsea says:

    Wooooo!

This is awesome. I adore Chef Lynn’s down-to-earth, friendly personality (a welcome change from so many celebrity chefs featured on the Food Network!) and her food looks, well, incredible. @mckenzicle

  • Suzanne says:

My boyfriend and I watch all of the cooking shows, and always, always cheer for Lynn, as she actually makes us proud Canadians to watch her attitude and spirit exemplify what it means to be a Canadian. It would be a great pre-birthday lunch for myself and him as well as my birthday is the next day!

Plus I really need to see her Palm tattoos in person!

  • As a Canadian, I think of Chef Lynn as a national treasure; an ambassador to our country, her warmth, talent & passion for food & cooking has always made me proud. But beyond that though, she just seems like the kind of girl you would want to have at your party. I would be deeply honoured to be a part of that day!

  • I like Lynn because she’s so warm and friendly, and I love watching her shows on the Food Network. It would be great to get a meal prepared by her. I already follow NAIT on Twitter and Facebook so i don’t know if that counts then as extra entries? @radiowasabi

  • Debra Ward says:

Was following @NAIT but had not liked NAIT on Facebook, I have now rectified that omission!

NAIT’s Culinary Program is an Edmonton GEM! We (Hubby#1 and me) are foodies and have been to (or nearly) all of Edmonton’s “Top Restaurants” and Ernest’s is always a go-to for special occasions. When I realized that Valentine’s Day was on a Friday this year I quickly reserved a table at Ernest’s and we were rewarded with delicious, artistic and creative “delights”. Cannot call what we experienced simply food as it surpasses this descriptor. Not enough superlatives…!

  • John ward says:

I like that she likes to help students with her experiences which to me makes her down to earth

  • Cyndy says:

@yndy newly following on Twitter and newly Liked on Facebook. Always loved my exceptional experiences at Ernst either at lunch or in the evening. As for Lynn Crawford, I would love to sample an awesome Canadian Chefs meal especially since I have watched her on the Food Network and could not smell or taste her meals. It’s my turn to experience this culinary event!!! ;)

  • Angelina says:

The NAIT culinary arts program is so fantastic. As a former student of another program, my classmates and I would have daily envy of the smells coming from their wing of the building, would enjoy a meal at their restaurant sometimes and would often get to see the cool food creations plated so well.

  • Kristina says:

Chef Lynn has such a fun personality. I’d love to just soak in that energy!

  • Andrew says:

Every show I have seen Lynn on has always been full of talent, tasty food, and humor!

  • Susan C says:

What I like about Chef Lynn Crawford, ‘the Renegade Cuisine Queen’ is #1 she is a Woman in the industry and she holds true to using the finest ingredients, and you can’t overcomplicate a dish,” she advises. “With the right ingredients, you can create a very strong memory for someone.” She’s livelier than a Jack Russell terrier, she smiles more than a kid on a Christmas morning, and she could easily be mistaken for a motivational speaker. She’s professional, but also outspoken enough to need bleeps to cover-up the F-bombs dropped on the TV show she hosts.

  • I have not watched Chef Lynn’s tv program before….until after I ate at her Toronto restaurant Ruby Watchco. The food was amazing, she cooked and served food! Down to earth lady.
NAIT Culinary program is fantastic – look at the successes of graduates!

  • I’ve always wanted to take NAIT’s culinary course. I’ve also tweeted exactly what you asked us to!

The thing I love most about NAIT’s Culinary Arts Program/Ernest’s restaurant is that they ALWAYS go over and above my expectations when preparing special vegetarian meals for me. Always tasty, and often my omnivore friends are jealous of what I get.

I already follow both you and NAIT on Twitter; my handle is @MzShaunaMac.

  • Kenneth Wiese says:

I always loved cooking, years ago I used to watch Mona Brun and Julia Child on their cooking shows when I was home sick from school. My Grand Mother on my Mothers side was an excellent cook and baker and I learned a lot from her. I went on to take commercial cooking in High School and then back in 1987 I attended a two year Cooking program at NAIT which I graduated with honours. After a few years of working out in the industry I went on to take the one year Diploma Course at “Le Cordon Bleu, London Limited” in London, England. Since then I have worked in Shanghai and London as well as Canada. I first knew of Lynn from “Restaurant Makeover” and I was taken with her excellent and friendly way of teaching and speaking to people not too mention her wonderful simple yet elegant and fresh methods of food preparation. I see Lynn Crawford and a modern day Canadian Julia Child. The NAIT culinary program was wonderful when I attended 27 years ago, however it has improved by leaps and bounds and it makes me wish that I had been born 27 years later so I could attend the two year program now. I was already following NAIT on Facebook however I liked it now and I also Tweeted out your sentence on Twitter to help promote the event. If I am chosen to win one of these tickets I would make the effort to be among the first people waiting to try and by at least one more on the morning of March 3rd so that I could take my Mother along.

  • Karen says:

I love that Chef Lynn is so friendly and down to earth, from what I can tell from watching her on the Food Network. And of course, her food always looks so delicious!

  • Brandy Kelly says:

I used to love watching Chef Lynn when she was featured on Restaurant Makeover. The way she worked with the restaurant chefs to teach them the basics of cooking simple delicious food was inspiring. I have also enjoyed seeing her experience some crazy antics on Pitchin’ In while also showing the new and delicious ways to use food in creative recipes. Fingers crossed as it would be great to have a special meal prepared by a celebrity chef. Now that I’m a working mom of two, dinners are quick and boring. Ashamed to admit pb & j is becoming a weekly staple.

Where do you even start to comment on either Chef Lynn Crawford or the NAIT Culinary program!Chef Lynn is a very down to earth, funloving, remarkable woman that is obviously very passionate about her cooking. Students at the culinary program are very fortunate to be able to study and work with such a great talent. I am sure that her energy and love of what she is able to do will greatly impact the students and it will be an experience they will never forget! The Culinary program to NAIT is absolutly remarkable. I have dined there a few times and the food and presentation is always amazing! My husband is an employee at NAIT and last friday came home with an amazing “box of chocolates” that was made by the students as a fundraiser. The skill and patience required to make this is amazing.
I could go on, but the combination of Lynn Crawford and the culinary team at NAIT is a “Gold Medal” performance!! Would live to be there!

I’ve always enjoyed Chef Lynn – especially since the show Pitchin’ In. She not only opened her eyes, but also Canada’s eyes to the processes farmers go through to bring that food to our homes. It gave me a new appreciation for sure! – @kristimingo

  • P. Jong says:

My favorite memory of Chef Lynn was from an episode of Pitchin In. The Strawberry episode. They are my favorite fruit. When she was able to impress a family that thought they had done strawberries every way possible, I was completely won over. One of my favorite’s from that day was the fried chicken and strawberry jalapeno corn waffles. I love how down to earth she always is, so wonderfully real, and how she is always up for a challenge. It would be an honor to partake of her culinary masterpieces.
    – I just liked Nait of Facebook this afternoon.
