About

CURRENTLY
Hi! I’m a 21-year-old, enthusiastic, goal-oriented journalist, broadcasting student, amateur photographer, videographer, editor, blogger, graphic and web designing hobbyist, and keen social networker.
(Phew, that’s a mouthful).
I’m from Edmonton, Alberta, born and raised, and I have a diploma in Journalism from MacEwan University. I am also on my way to having a diploma in Television Broadcasting from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). I am and have been an intern, freelance and full-time print reporter at publications like the Edmonton Sun, Edmonton Journal, the St. Albert Saint City News, Metro Edmonton, and more. I’ve had aspirations to become a television reporter, anchor, TV show host and even video editor. I feel the possibilities are endless because my interests and abilities are endless and always expanding.
As of April 2010, I completed my first year in TV Broadcasting at NAIT with a 3.9 GPA, which is on par with the grades I received at MacEwan. During Summer 2010, I worked as a regular freelance reporter for The Edmonton Sun where I covered city news and events and wrote articles for the newspaper as well as online hits to the Sun website. I also shot video of news and events for the Sun website and got a chance to cover the Capital Ex beat. Over the summer I also began freelance video shooting and editing.
As of September 2010, I returned to NAIT to finish my final year in TV Broadcasting and am currently enrolled there now.
THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD

In early 2009, I took part in a global competition called The Best Job in the World. Beating out nearly 35,000 applicants worldwide, I made it into the Best Job’s Top 50 Candidates. After a whirlwind of media interviews and campaigning for global votes, I ended up being the 15th Most Voted Top 50 Candidate in the competition. Unfortunately as those who moved onto the next round were not selected strictly based on votes, I wasn’t chosen to move onto the next round of the Best Job.
While I received many local and international media coverage during my stint with The Best Job in the World, many of the links online are now broken. I hope to restore and re-post them sometime in the near future.
LINDA HOANG’S REPORTING/WRITING EXPERIENCE
After only my first year of journalism school, I was accepted for a four-month summer internship at a weekly newspaper in St. Albert, the Saint City News. Here, I had my first real experience in an industry newsroom. During my second year of journalism, I was accepted to do a five-week internship at Edmonton’s major daily newspaper the Edmonton Journal. Here I was immediately thrown into a fast-paced daily newsroom setting, chasing sources to meet story deadlines, filing stories for web, and continuing to hone my skills as a young journalist. I’ve also dabbled in freelance reporting for various publications including SEE Magazine and 24 Hours, before becoming a steady freelance reporter for The Edmonton Sun the Summer of 2010. OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT LINDA
I like to think that I’m extremely Internet saavy and I try to maintain a prominent presence online via social networking websites, Internet forums, blogs, and fansites which I own and operate myself. I love television, movies, music, dance, and pop culture. Some of my favourite television shows include So You Think You Can Dance, LOST, Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Supernatural, 90210, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Veronica Mars, FRIENDS, Community, Simpsons, Family Guy, and more. My movie interests range from explosive action to “thinky” movies to romantic tearjerkers and mindless comedy. I love eating out, tweeting on Twitter, and reading as well!
I’m a friendly, eager, and outgoing person. I’m driven, determined, and goal-oriented. Once I set my sights on something, I’ll stop at nothing to achieve it. I’m enthusiastic and a hard worker and I’m determined to succeed, make a name for myself, and live a happy, busy, and full life.
This website serves as my blog and my online portfolio, including samples of my writing, photography, graphics, and more. This website is also a one-stop source for all the websites, forums, blogs, and etc., that I own or am a part of. As my Internet exploits, this website will grow to house and advertise those online endeavours and serve as my network hub.

Well Chuck is not even on your top movies while Veronica Mars and The Sarah Connor Chronicles are. Two shows I have not seen you mention in the last 6 months of our relationship. Has it all been a lie?
It has been a long time since I updated, give me a break!
